    Good guide on how to eat healthy and avoid harmful foods

We hear it all the time.  The food industrial complex is more about quantity than quality.  Because of the economy, the nature of the food we eat has changed.  More food products are produced with high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, chemical ingredients, and many other foreign agents that preserve and bulk up the contents of food.  In response to these harmful ingredients in food, our bodies launch an inflammation response to protect our bodies.  Inflammation Diet for Beginners is an excellent 101 guide to understanding all the harmful inflammatory foods in our grocery stores.  It explains the signs and symptoms of inflammation, the types of food that cause inflammation, and how to strengthen the body through the correct diet to reduce inflammation.  In a nutshell, the book covers all the bases on what is essential for a good balanced diet and what foods are important to stay away from.  The beautiful part of this book is the long list of alternative recipes for meals that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.  Many reviewers have commented that this is an excellent book for people who suffer from inflammatory diseases, however, I feel it is a staple for any health conscious individual who would like to maintain a long lasting healthy lifestyle.  As the saying goes, “You are what you eat.”

This book is a good book for anyone who has been recently diagnosed with an inflammatory disease and wants to change their diet. As for myself, I don’t have any heath issues but I know people who suffer from arthritis. Therefore, I am currently look for ways to reduce inflammation. This book has some basic information on inflammation. Everything was broken down in terms I could understand. I couldn’t understand why in some diets wheat isn’t recommended. However, this book told me why.  There are a lot of hybrid wheat that can cause problems. But, it would be best to stick with organic wheat. I didn’t know that inflammation plays a role in Coronary artery disease by causing buildup of plaque in the arteries. I also like the 14-day meal plan that they have. They break it down by day and they have four meals a day.  It gives you tips to plan your meals ahead of time and prepare them so that it is easier. The book was helpful to me and I enjoyed some of the recipes.

    Tasty and easy to follow recipes

I’m continually on the quest for better recipes to aid in my better eating habits. To that end, every member of this household has some sort of medical condition (2 diabetics, 1 with heart disease; 1 IBS; multiples counts of arthritis). I came across the Inflammation Diet for Beginners and decided to pick it up. The first quarter of the books is devoted to background information on what inflammation is, types of ailments associated with inflammation, what foods reduce/increase inflammation and some suggested weekly menus. Followed by a variety of tasty recipes. Now, I am the first to admit that I love seafood, but I rarely make it at home. I’ve been known to bake a few fish in my time as well as toss some shrimp into a rice pilaf, but actually make a meal with fish? Hmmm…well, there are numerous fish/seafood recipes and for the most part, they are quite delicious. On top of that, they’re incredibly easy to prepare. For us, generally speaking, we prefer a bit more spice in our food, so I tended to add a bit more than the recipes suggested, but that’s personal taste. The dessert recipes are also MIGHTY tasty. I love dark chocolate and coconut, so I had a bit of fun with some of the recipes.What this book doesn’t provide is a breakdown of calories, carbs, fats, etc. for the various recipes nor does it dictate how much you should/should not eat. Bit refreshing to be treated like an adult and presumed to know how much I should be eating. Appreciate that part.
