The ultimate travel backpack – built to last
This is hands down the best backpack I’ve ever owned. I can easily carry my work laptop, personal laptop, and an iPad, plus 3–5 days of clothes, a water bottle, and plenty of gadgets in all the smartly designed pockets. The organization is excellent without feeling cluttered. I’ve taken this bag around the world and breeze through TSA every time—no hassles. The steel-braided handle is a game changer: sturdy, premium, and it gives you confidence that this bag is built to last. Honestly, it feels like a buy-for-life product. Another feature I love is the suitcase handle slot, which lets you slide the backpack onto your luggage handle. It’s such a simple but brilliant design choice that makes traveling way more comfortable. Level8 nailed it with this one. It pairs perfectly with their other luggage, and I’m excited to keep taking this bag everywhere I go. Highly recommend to any frequent traveler.

A great business laptop backpack!
I love this laptop backpack!. The laptop storage padding is the best I have ever seen. The zippers are super sturdy and look like they will last forever. There are TONS of storage areas that were planned out well. The strap to allow the bag to be placed over a carry on luggage handle is super handy when travelling. I can hold two laptops if one is relatively small. I carry a 15.6" gaming laptop and a 14" Dell laptop in a pouch that is in the same area that the main laptop padded area is in. It doesn't look like a stereotypical laptop bag either. It looks more like a business bag than something a college student would carry. I love how much can fit in the backpack without it being super wide too. It doesn't feel like a camping backpack like some other large backpacks do. If you want a backpack that looks professional, has tons of storage options and will protect your laptop well, get this!

The best backpack I've ever had.
I got this same model of backpack back in 2009 from my closest Apple storewhen I was a senior in college. That backpack lasted through 5 more years of school (diploma, Bachelors) and numerous travels through airport security, biking around, and even a few camping trips. I ordered a new one (price drop!) because I lost a zipper or two and the general wear and tear of such a durable item over the years. I'm happy to see they updated it to include a tablet protector inside the main compartment. (Normally I'd stick my kindle in between a few paperbacks.) So this backpack will last you years. What's more, the laptop protecting part is still (in my opinion) the best designed I've seen. The cushioning has some high level of tech and planning that does the job well without weighing down the entire backpack. I've been knocked off my bicycle (laptop inside) and the laptop was fine; also I've been careless sometimes, and the laptop (MacBook Pro mid 2009) is still my daily driver. So my point is, the build quality of this rather price-advantageous backpack is superb, better than any others I've used or seen friends use. The appearance is subtle and yet the material is high grade. Perfect for any student, and now that I'm entering graduate school and approaching a full time job, maybe the only backpack I could say is "business casual," so no need to go the hipster route of a messenger bag. I can't recommend this enough.

Changed and not for the better
Short version: I no longer recommend this backpack as they have removed much of the organization from the one I bought 4 years ago. But if you just want a good size pack with a larger opening for a laptop and tablet along with another large opening for other items, then it is a good backpack. But for those that want some organization, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. I purchased the Level8 backpack about 4 years ago and as a consultant I travel with it often including several international trips. If I’m not traveling, I use it to take my computers and gadgets from home to the office on an almost daily basis. I currently carry a 14” Dell laptop for my client, my personal HP Spectre 360 15T laptop, and an iPad Pro. Plus I carry quite a few gadgets; 2 mice in cases, large Anker powerbank battery charge, small powerbank charger, 5 port charger, Jabra 65T earbuds, Voyager Pro headset, Sony noise canceling headphones in a large case, umbrella, charger for Dell laptop, charger for HP laptop, and many cables and adapters. In the very front pouch, I also have some basic toiletries such as an emergency toothbrush, pain reliever, and similar. Also carry snacks, change, pens, pencils, etc. People are often surprised at how heavy my backpack is as it is probably 35-40 lbs fully loaded. My backpack is starting to look its age though it still works and since I don’t like the changes made, I will continue using it until I can find one with some semblance of organization and able to carry this much stuff without being too big (Oakley Kitchen Sink). Before ordering the Level8 backpack again, I researched all sorts of backpacks online including eBags, North Face, Oakley, Booq, Brenthaven, Victorinix, among others. Ultimately I decided to order the Level8 bag again but since the bag was changed, I guess I’m back to finding a replacement for when this bag eventually needs replacing. Section overviews: • Overall backpack is nice with decently padded back straps. There aren’t chest or waist straps but I personally don’t want those thought I’m sure some do. There is a strap above the backpack straps that go over my carryon’s handle. There is also a rubber handle over a braided steel cable on top to grab the bag. The bag is large but can fit under most airline seats. The backpack is fairly rigid so it won’t fall over, even if the laptops are taken out. • Back opening for laptop, which opens all the way to put the laptop on one side and the rest of the backpack on the other side for going through TSA security. This feature isn’t really needed now but you never know if it might be needed again by TSA. I stored my personal laptop in the well-padded laptop pocket, put my iPad in the little pocket sewn to the front of the laptop opening and then put the Dell laptop in between. Works well and everything is well protected. • The next pocket forward is full size with a large opening. On the front wall of the pocket opening is a zippered pocket that is unchanged from my 4 year old backpack. I use this pocket for adapters and cables I use less frequently. It is on the back wall of the second opening that is the let down. There is now a shallow sewn pocket for a book or tablet. But on my 4-year old version there were two sewn pockets on the top that could easily handle something an inch thick. On the lower side of my old one were a pair of pockets with stretchy mesh, which I use for my portable powerbanks and 5-port AC charger. Most of the rest of my gadgets are just put loose into the second pocket with the umbrella on one side, heavier stuff like laptop power bricks at the bottom, and my large Sony headphone case on top. • The next pocket forward is a small pocket only 4” or so deep and 10” or so wide and this was also changed. On my old version, it had a card holder section sewn into it, which I use for cards but also for security fobs. The new version is just a wide open pocket. • The last pocket up front is a fairly large pocket and on the back side it has a zipper so it can hold a passport and similar. It also had some pencil holders sewn in as well as a card holder. This pocket is unchanged. • There are also two mesh pockets on the side that can be unzipped, primarily to hold water. These are slightly changed as the old ones were a little shorter but opened on 3 sides so the mesh is wide open to easily hold a 1 liter bottle. I thought the new ones seemed tighter since they only open on 2 sides and not the bottom. However, I tested a larger 1 L water bottle and it fit fine and actually fits better since the new pockets are a little taller. So this is the only area where the new version of the backpack is better.

Best Laptop Sleeve EVER!
Soooo, I think I've officially hit middle age, and I work at the corporate offices for a large corporation. It's time to ditch the loud colorful backpacks I've been leaning towards for the past 30 years. I travel from time to time for work as well, and I need to carry my laptop, iPad and other work odds and ends as well as the standard book and magazine for a flight or long train ride. Enter me looking for a new sleek black bag for the office. I came across the Level 8 Atlas and thought to myself "This looks exactly like the bag I've been looking for." So.... I went ahead and ordered it. This was a great decision. I love this bag. It has lots of organization and... by far.... the absolute best laptop sleeve I have ever not only used, but seen in a bag. This thing is seriously amazing. It fits both my current Mac BookPro and my old massive Dell. And the bag's fit and feel is great. super comfortable to wear for a long time, and the top grab handle is made form what appears to be the same type of breaded metal bike chain. But it is covered with a nice black rubber grab handle to both cover it up for ascetics and make it comfortable to hold in the hand. In addition it is also TSA compliant with the 180 degree lay flat. So next time I head through airport security, I don't need to take everything out of my bag! I'm very happy with this bag.

Excellent backpack, "meh" zippers
I teach and I bought this Level 8 backpack in July, 2019 to use as my work bag. I walk to work daily and carry my laptop, folders with assignments to grade, a pen bag, sunglasses in their case, a water bottle, a coffee mug, charging cords, and other miscellaneous gear. I've even gotten a pair of shoes to fit in it so I don't have to wear my winter boots all day! I've also flown with this backpack and gotten it to fit under my seat (taking care to not overfill it). More pluses: The style is very professional looking and understated. The carrying handle is convenient and quite heavy duty, so no issues at all with that. There are several compartments which make it easy to organize a wide variety of daily work necessities and/or supplies for traveling. Also, the weight distributes well across my shoulders making this comfortable to walk with daily. However, it's January 2024 and the zipper on the main compartment, where the computer goes, is broken, rendering the backpack nearly useless. The other components are high quality and still in very good condition, so the lightweight zipper is the Achilles heel of this backpack, IMHO. Unfortunately, the price is now into triple digits, which is more than I'm willing to spend. Four and a half years is okay, but I was really hoping to get more years out of it.

Lightweight, well padded and super convenient. 5 years later STILL great.
I love the pack. I originally got it for my MacBook Pro 15”. Then I replaced the 2013 pro with a 16” but eventually used it for both that and my work-supplied newer 16” pro. Both of these and my iPad Pro fit fine with the most padded sleeve going to my personal MacBook of course. It has a multitude of pockets check the product page. It holds two water bottles well but I rarely used those instead I stick like an eyeglass case on one side and contact cleaner fluids on the other when traveling. First under seat on plane. Never use the TSA open thing since rules changed. One of the really neat features is it holds my kindle in an easily accessible pocket. If you are a female without pants pockets that same small top zippered sleeve pocket can hold your phone as well. Plenty of internal holding areas and zippers. I wish the front of 4 compartments (counting kindle one) was dual zipper like the others. I hate not being able to just lightly open from top but it’s minor. Also one reason I chose this one over others was due to the very reinforced handle. I have seen my son’s fabrics ticked handle break due to weight and some others I tried would cut into my palm. This was strong and comfortable. And 5 years on I still use it. I’m suggesting another now for my son with new MacBook Air and starting college in August. I a, including a pic of the front of it showing fraying on decorative piping on the front flap. This happened likely due to shoving the bag constantly under airline seats with metal underneath and perhaps laying on asphalt time to time? But it didn’t rip or do anything functional to it.

Soooo… one can!
Title continued… you can buy something cheaper that might be similar and have the same needs especially as a college student or a light traveler… but I went through allot to get to the right bag. 1: my electronics 2: comfort 3: travel and airport security convenience 4: MOST importantly Warranty! there is no other product that checks all 4 other than Level 8. Many similar styles but Build Quality and Product backing was most important for me. I had no problem paying a bit of a premium for a book bag and suitcase knowing that it checked off all the most important things for me. Now one would say well I paid $30.00 bucks for a bag that provided many similar ways to carry what I need and IF the bag goes bad I have no problem paying for another $30.00 bag and suitcase BUT this is NOT that product. This is amazingly built and the company provides all the support you need for a more than average traveler. It’s important when it comes to quality. And.. all there products are beautiful no matter what color you choose. I have had several travelers ask “What brand of book bag and suitcase that is?” Because of how sexy it is. Especially when your passing security. I’ve even had TSA agents ask about the bags. I hope this helps in those that are looking for a great long lasting product make a great decision. And NO Level 8 has NO clue who I am and I’m not paid nor do I expect anything other than what the brand stands for and WHY I made this decision. If I ever have an issue and they don’t back it I WILL make a post but for now this is an amazing product.
