desertcart.com: Thomas Edison (National Geographic Kids Readers, Level 2): 9781426314766: Kramer, Barbara, National Geographic Kids: Books Review: I highly recommend this Level 2 series of nonfiction books for you readers. - Being a former primary elementary teacher, I recognize that early readers can gain a lot from exposure to nonfiction. Yes, surely let early and advanced readers have free reign in choosing fiction book. That is what hooks them into the whole "I want to read" behavior. But nonfiction needs to be introduce to the young read also so he/she learns that finding out information about the world we live in is fun too. This National Geographic series for young reads fits that role nicely. This is the fourth book I purchased for my grandson, and he is loving it. The level 2 readers which are single topic books includes a large range of topics, and the photographs/illustrations are top notch. The vocabulary is consistent and new/difficult words are explain in a sidebar on the page were it appears. My grandson likes verbally taking the quiz at the end of each book which is one way the child can share the book with the adults around. The quiz is titled for the parents but that doesn't stop him from reading and answering the questions. The level 2 readers have 41 book in the series. I gave my grandson free range in telling me which books he might want to read. He picked out 23 of the titles and surprised me with wanting five of the biographies in the series! I highly recommend this series of nonfiction readers for younger children who are reading on a first grade level. Review: Good kids book - This book gives a good view of Thomas Edison. Perfect for kids.

The entire National Geographic Readers series is an excellent leaning resource for my 7 years old twins. They love reading them alone. Nice glossary at the end, easy and engaging language, lots of excellent pictures. I am connecting this reading with youtube videos so they get a better sense what the story is about. They love it
