Will this work on a 1/4 inch shelf depth with an uneven surface?

Based on my use with half inch thickness, having a smooth surface will probably be best for optimum adhesion unless you also use a supplemental adhesive to make up for the uneven surface.

does this work on beveled edges?

Yes, since there is some adhesive on the top. I used them on a piece with beveled edges and they’ve stayed in place very well.

Is it suited for outdoor use?

Although the adhesive seems to be durable, it’s life would probably be shortened by the outdoor variables. I enjoy their utility indoors, but would not recommend for outside for long-term.
