I'm a small boned woman, but have a middle-aged shape so had to buy the LARGE. I was worried it would be swimming on me across the shoulders and the straps then having to be pulled tighter to keep it from rubbing or cutting my armpit area. It was fine. The straps are very stiff, but this would be so for whatever size you bought. They do squish a bit width-wise if you fold your arms and that's when you feel them cut into you a bit. I solved this by taking a pair of fleecy winter gloves that had worn out in the fingertips. I cut off the fingers at the palm but left the thumb. Then I threaded them onto the straps with wrist side on the bottom and positioned them at the armpit area, tucking the thumb bit around the strap. They stay great and are very cushy and I don't feel the straps at all now.The brace not only pulls shoulders back, the upper back section of the brace is a firm mesh as well and you can feel your shoulder blades in the proper position so you know you are wearing it and it's correcting your posture! The lower back support "stays" are very strong and you get the added benefit of a nipped in waist and tummy. I might like to get a more pricey product sometime down the road, but for support and "doing what it says on the box".... this is it. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Posture *by H***H on 29 August 2011* When you wear it it certainly makes you stand tall. You can feel it gives you good back support. It is uncomfortable though, especially under the arms. You couldn't wear it for long. The size guide only refers to waist size. On the box it also takes length from shoulder to waist into account. Perhaps if I had a bigger size it wouldnt pull so much under my arms. The sizing guide is unhelpful. The right size could be wonderful! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective product *by S***Z on 4 May 2016* Brilliant product! I'm a slim size 6-8 and wasn't sure if this would be too big. However, the waist and the straps that come under the arms are adjustable and so this is perfect. I wear it over a T-shirt so I've haven't experienced the rubbing some people mention. There can be a slight discomfort around the shoulders but this is because it's doing what it should and helping correct poor posture. When I hold my shoulders correctly the discomfort eases. I really notice a difference with this product and I'm building up the time I wear it for. It's exceptional quality and very easy to use.
