The spearhead of the Luftwaffe was the Messerschmitt Bf109E. A formidable fighting machine, it had proven itself to be world class throughout its previous campaigns. However, over southern England in the summer of 1940, it faced a new set of challenges. The most serious test for the Luftwaffe pilots was the widespread use of the RAF’s finest fighter, the Supermarine Spitfire. More manoeuvrable than the 109E, the Spitfire was the finest fighter of its day. This set contains two aircraft flown by aces, Helmut Wick and John Dundas. Or are they supposed to be put on the stand only? Thanks.** A: They come with wheels and the stand. You can choose whichever option works best, however if you are looking to use them with the wheels, I'd recommend buying the individual starter packs as that would most likely save a few dollars. **Q: Do you need to glue it to the stand?** A: Sorry I gave it as a gift. I can and be happy try to find out if u can wait a few days about this particular model or maybe ck Airfix website ! It seems to me building similar models. You certainly can, u could hang from the ceiling with very thin 3-4 lb test clear fishing line. Or if the landing gear can be set down and locked as landing or taking off. If u do that be sure to check u do not need ballast in the rear or front of plane so the tail or nose pops up in the air. Some putty embedded with bb's or any heavy wt under the cockpit seat, etc or any area that can't be seen some kits also have instructions about what to use and where to place it, even come with instructions or weights. The kits themselves are mostly flash free, with only a little in the way of mould lines to clean up. Clear instruction and paint guide. Decals are excellent. The only problem is some of the paints are showing their age. The Spitfire undersurface “duck egg green” is particularly nasty. A fairly experienced modeler will probably have better paints to use, but if you buy this for a beginner, please look at buying the appropriate paints separately to avoid disappointment and disillusionment.
