Is this drill brushless?

Yes. I also have an earlier 12 volt standard model which has gone through 2 sets of batteries and is still running excellent. This 12 volt model has more or less 3 rimes torque hard to believe the punch.

Why is the price so much lower than everyone else?

As I'm writing this, if you look under Product information, Technical Details, Included Components, it says "2 batteries and charger". That's all. Personally, I think $165 is a little high for 2 12V batteries and a charger.
