A problem with realism, but still fun to play.

There are plenty of aggravating aspects to this game. As you progress through levels the opponents offense does not get better, your defense gets worse. By the time you get to the Heisman level it is as though your defensive backs have blind folds on. When a receiver cuts inward across the field your defender keeps running up field for another 5 yards before trying to catch up which is far too late by then. It is almost impossible to defend the pass on upper levels, no matter that you have 4 and 5 star players defending. As a result your opponent will always get upwards of 500 yards in passing. After the 1st quarter all your opponents run the shotgun offense on nearly every play. When you have a fast scrambling quarterback he will often be run down from behind by a defensive lineman even though he is sprinting way, something that is pretty much impossible in real life. Again, on upper levels every quarterback is a great passer regardless of the quality of the team. There is pretty much no difference between how well an opponents team performs at the All American and Heisman levels, even when they are winless. That is to say all the teams seem to be comprised of Heisman candidate players. When you blitz the other team magically always keeps in just enough players to block everyone, almost like they knew your play ahead of time (which they do since it is a computer). Also, as you progress up the levels the number of interceptions and fumbles start to get crazy. As much as 12 interceptions in a game and 4 or 5 fumbles. The interceptions are often the result of impossible plays by defenders, suddenly making up distance when they were far behind the receiver.I'm pretty sure that most of the developers of this program have seen very little real football played.OK, so why the 4 stars? I can remember back to the 80's when the characters in games were made up of large blocks that made them look like a leg go creation. Programmers where having trouble getting more than one thing moving at the same time in the game. Fast forward and you have a fairly realistic depiction of the game which is fun to play despite all it's short comings. Screaming at the screen after a ridiculous play is probably a good stress release. :)

"The best football game ever!" - Me

Simply put - "Best Football Game of all-time"I grew up playing Madden, prior to the NCAA franchise. Then I stuck mostly to NCAA until it came to an end, and I was forced back into Madden again, recently buying Madden 20.This is why I'm here, the PS4 Madden games have changed so drastically that I was happy to spend the money to get NCAA 2014. The rosters are still shareable, so there are still 2019 rosters, Team Builder teams are still available, so there are 100's of user created College, Hish School, and All-Time teams. The community is still thriving so the game is still alive. The franchise halftime show on Madden 20, has zero highlights, it talks about scores around the league and then ends. NCAA shows highlights at the end of every quarter, as well as Halftime and Postgame. And it has a 4th Qt. Studio break that shows scores from big games going on at the same time. The atmosphere is amazing in NCAA 2014. It gets you hype hearing the crowd the bands and all the excitement. These games were done with such precision, it's made me realize even if we get a NCAA 2022, it wont compete with this game. You can start your Dynasty as an OC for a small College, and literally work you way up to Head Coach at a Power 5 school. The coaching caracal is exciting to keep up with, watching Head coaches move up or down depending on how they do over the years. So much detail. Tons of stats, and trophies to win each season. This game will live on for a long time. And since EA still has the servers on, you aren't too late to the party.
