Do they bend slightly to hold the picture and backing in place if those two things together are not as thick as the frame opening?

When I had that problem, I added another layer of backing, either cardboard or bubble wrap, so the backing was level with the frame. Bending the turn button inward could put pressure on the glass so it would break easier and would make it so the button wouldn’t swivel to adjust or release the picture the way it’s designed to.
