"Fully illustrated, the charm of his English Roses comes across on every page, even if the reader has to imagine their scent." - The Irish Garden "Experts will appreciate the notes on each rose's breeding." - Historic Gardens Foundation Informative, accessible and stunningly illustrated, David Austin's English Roses introduces the reader to the world of rose propagation and care. The book focuses on English Roses, bred by David Austin to combine the sumptuousness of Old Roses with the strength and practical virtues of Modern Roses. It will be greatly prized by rose-growers and rose-lovers everywhere, whether professional or amateur. Also available: Climbing and Rambler Roses ISBN: 9781870673655 Modern, Shrub and Species Roses ISBN: 9781870673716 Old Roses ISBN: 9781870673693 Review: Wonderful!!!!! - Now I ask you "who doesn't marvel at the smell of an English rose"? The scent is so magnificent and a bowl of just cut roses perfumes the air like no other. If you have never experienced the scent of a David Austin rose, well then, you are missing out. This book really goes into his different roses and lets you know for instance, what are climbers etc etc. Descriptions of the individual roses and potential problems are also listed. Basically for anyone who is going to put in David Austin roses you can read up on what would work for you on your property. In my area of New England there is a nursery that I do a lot of business with. In the Fall they always have an amazing sale to get rid of stock. Well, I scooped up David Austin roses for $10 per 2 gallon pot, compared to the normal $60 each. Yikes, how lucky am I. But this certainly will give readers a suggestion of when to purchase your roses at a reasonable price. Now, one more thing. I pass this along to those just getting started with growing David Austin roses. Once you experience your first frost, then it is time to prune your roses and get them ready for the Winter. In the North East we experience some mighty cold temps. Roses need to be protected. Take wire, chicken wire is easiest and cut a two foot piece. This will go around each rose. Use wooden garden supports (the green ones that are used for staking flowers) to weave in and out of the wire and drive into the ground so the wire doesn't blow away. Then top dress with seasoned or just dried horse manure and on top of that fill the wire enclosure up with OAK leaves to cover the crown. You are filling the enclosure up about a quarter of the way. The pictures and descriptions in this book are just amazing. A must have! Review: A beautiful coffee table book - Well worth the price. Good quality and beautiful.

Beautiful English roses!
This book has lots of beautiful pics of roses and descriptions of David Austins roses. I am a rose lover and sort of collect rose books, this is one of my gems. It is not a go to guide of how to grow roses. I love looking thru this book in the cold of winter and deciding what new rose I will try in my garden come spring! I look at the pictures and try to imagine how it would look in my garden!

Best roses on the planet
I have been a David Austin fan for more than 28 years when I owned a local perenial nursery. This book is one of the very best I have found on the subject of his roses. It does not contain all of his roses, in fact surprised it did not contain photo or information about some of his most successful and most loved roses. But there is much information about his roses, how to successfully grow them and also history about his own personal rose journey. I pick up this book again and again just to bury myself in the world of his roses and enjoy the fact that it is time well spent.

Je possède 12 rosiers de David Austin : ''Gertude Jekyll'' - ''The poet's Wife'' - ''Thomas a Becket'' - ''Summer Song'' - ''Desdemona'' - '' Queen of Sweden'' ( deux exemplaires) - ''Lady of Shalott'' - '' Scepter d'Isle'' - ''William and Catherine'' - ''Rohald Dahl'' - '' Olivia Rose Austin ''
