Yes, UV free. Not sure about the warranty, but I have had mine for years with no trouble whatsoever.

Is the less bright mood settings effective, or is the brightest more effective ?

That's a great question! I have found it can depend on several things including mood, level of concentration, and time of day. There are times when a brighter setting is much more energizing, and times when the lower light helps me focus and concentrate while not feeling too intense or pressured.
