Quality Dashcam
I recently installed the Thinkware U1000 (front and rear) dashcam in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Installation was fairly easy, and I opted to use the Echomaster OBDII cable for power since switched power/fuse access in my particular vehicle is under the hood and is hard to get to. After installation, everything came up and the camera resolution and quality was very good as expected for this higher end dashcam. I do have an issue with automatic power cutoff when after turning off the ignition which is most likely an issue with the OBDII module. I'm currently working that issue with customer support (a bit of a wait to speak to someone, but very helpful).

Great camera. Horrible software.
The camera is great. I have it installed on my Mustang GT premium performance pack that i rarely drive. Video quality is good in 4k but the 4k only shoots 30FPS so i use the 1440p mode for 60fps which is good enough ( should be 4k 60fps for the price imo) the real issue is the thinkware dashcam app that you have to download. It's the epitome of hot dog water. Holy cow. The files get corrupted so easily on the app (when you pull the SD card the files are there fine the app just cant see them) the GPS NEVER worked so any of the cloud functions are just broken. I am a software engineer, lmk if you need someone to help you build a functional app because your app is horrendous and you should honestly be ashamed. Update 2024: camera has fully died doesn't take power. Would not buy again

Works great for me
I've had this for 3 years and it continues to work great. It's small enough not to get in the way of my driving view and the video is very clear, even at night where I can still see license plates. It comes on when the car is started so I don't have to worry about powering it up. My car doesn't have any sensors in front to notify me if I'm too close to the vehicle in front of me but this does. It also alerts when I change lanes (likely good if you drift in your lane). My only nitpicks are I wish the volume could be turned up louder, the app isn't the prettiest, and twice this year it told me it could not record because the sd card was corrupt. It's never happened before so I don't know if the temp extremes in the car is affecting the card. You can easily reformat it tho within the app or on your computer. I sometimes have issues connecting to the app when sitting in front of the device. Most of the time it's because I have a VPN running on my phone. That will definitely keep it from connecting so turn it off to access the app. Otherwise, I would purchase this again, I'm quite happy with it.

Best dash cam with some exceptions
First, make no mistake, Thinkware makes the best dash cams. I upgraded from the F800 PRO. The U1000 has a nice wide angle view (150 degrees) and "good" 4K video quality (front) and rear (2K). While not the best 4K quality, it's pretty darn good. Make sure you view the video on a 4K screen or you will see pixilation. The parking modes are awesome! The road alerts/warnings are annoying at best - I turned them off. I personally use high sensitivity for parking incidents and medium sensitivity for parking motion. I use medium sensitivity for continuous driving and incidents. Some reviewers recommend low sensitivity. Once the optional radar module (for extended parking coverage) is released I definitely plan to purchase it. The rear cam rotates (up and down) so you can adjust the angle of the video based on the angle of your rear window. Reason I only gave it 4 STARS: The files are huge! One minute of 4K video is over 200MB (front cam) and 100MB rear cam. They only included a 32GB mini SD and it is NOT enough storage capacity. Thinkware should include the 128GB as the standard option for such high quality large video files and expensive camera. Since they don't, I HIGHLY recommend you purchase one - and make sure it is dash cam quality. I read that 256GB cards are not supported (Thinkware, correct me if I'm wrong?) That makes no sense for a dual (4K front + 2K rear) dash camera. One of my other biggest complaints about the front camera is the inability to rotate the cam mount to record inside the vehicle (for police traffic stops). Hopefully, someone makes a third-party mount that rotates. Will update this review once I've had a chance to use it more. I have a planned road trip this weekend. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B984HJ5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Great product except it completely failed after the warranty expired
I bought this new in early 2020, it was installed for less than two years before the speaker started to go. I got hit almost exactly 2 years after it was installed to find out the system and card has failed and Thinkware customer service cannot be bothered to answer my calls, chats or reply to emails. Very disappointed. It worked great, but for only 20-24 months for such a premium system and high price is deplorable.

Amazing video clarity....works as described. I got this hard-wired from a professional and am glad I didn't attempt myself as I might not be able to install this neatly.

Is the Flagship Dash Cam from Thinkware worth the money? I think so. Ask yourself why you need/want a dash cam in the first place. It's to record incidents with as much detail for evidence purposes if needed. The video quality is everything and this dash cam delivers. I received my dash cam in the factory box with the factory seal on it unbroken. Forget the last review for this item something is fishy about that. Besides your dealing with Amazon who has no problems exchanging or refunding your order if the wrong item is shipped. The installation is easy and most people should be able to do it with ease. The hardest part of the installation is identifying the fuses to connect the hard wire kit. That's only because it takes a bit of time to identify the correct fuses with a tester or volt meter. I purchased the radar for this system as well but it's not available through Amazon at this time. You will need additional items to complete the installation. I highly recommend purchasing a trim removal kit. Amazon has many choices available. It does make it easier to remove molding and trim from your vehicle. You will need a fuse tester or volt meter to identify the correct fuses in your vehicle. You will also need to purchase fuse tap adapters. Verify the correct fuse type that you will be using. I made the mistake of ordering mini fuse adapters and my vehicle had Micro 2 fuse adapters. All-in-all the installation was easy and the results are fantastic. I highly recommend this dash cam for the users that are serious about obtaining video evidence of an event.

Purchased from blackboxmycar seller here on Amazon, arrived packed properly with all the contents inside, everything working, driving with it for almost a month, no problems so far, all this time did not reboot it or anything, works stable, picture quality is good, using it in 2k60fps mode, wifi works ok, not sure how parking mode remote view works though cause the camera disconnecting from hotspot once it goes to parking mode, everything else is good
