I started reading about sippy cups and turns out the ADA and AAP don't recommend using no-spill cups which have valves requiring the baby to bite and suck, rather than sip. I finally came across these cups, which have 2 holes in a hard free flow spout and a silicone insert which can reduce flow (another reviewer has posted a great pic). I removed the insert, choosing instead to add it back if the flow was too much. I lifted the cup to my son's mouth and he tried to bite the spout (like he did with the silicone ones), but he realized right away that it was not soft and stopped biting. Then he drank from it perfectly! Not even a dribble on his bib. I don't use the insert at all, so he requires constant supervision while he has this cup, but he drinks well and promptly when I help him put it to his mouth which is a big win for us! It's not a cup for baby to just sit and play with because it will spill.A note on the slanted design - it is great because the cup can be tipped less while drinking, but it also makes the cup rather large despite the smaller volume it holds.The big negative is this is not a no-spill cup. Even with the insert (which can block off the flow), I would not toss this cup into a diaper bag. It needs to be kept upright. If you use the insert to close off the cup, you have to take the lid off and remove the insert for drinking and then have the issue of where to keep the insert if baby is not using it to slow the flow. If we are out and about, I put his liquid in a bottle with a lid and then fill the cup only when I am ready to give it to him. ### ⭐⭐ Difficult to close and leaky. *by I***. on April 1, 2017* I did not like this product. I found that it leaked, and as some other reviewers have said, it is very hard to get the top on tightly, You really have to bear down on it to get it to fully snap closed. But even then, if you shake the cup hard it will leak out of the spout area. Not a fan. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This has been a really great cup for my 7mo to learn that liquid comes ... *by E***N on September 7, 2015* This has been a really great cup for my 7mo to learn that liquid comes from a cup (doesn't have to tip as far and you don't have to fill it up so much to allow for an easier tip but then it's too heavy....) but with that said, this is a stay at home cup only. It leaks pretty easily and the lid pops off easily as well. I do like that you can adjust the flow. We get messy when we eat right now so a little added water doesn't bother me since she's really getting the hang of a sippy but when we're out of the house, we bring a different more secure cup.
