ESP LTD EC-401 - Vintage Black

This guitar is amazing. Sounded great immediately out of the box. The EMG pickups deliver an amazing sound with really great tone. One thing I'd recommend, even though it sounded great out of the box is to change the strings and the battery for the pickups just to ensure the best possible sound. Definitely happy with this purchase. Make sure you get a case for it as it does not even come with a gig bag.

Amazing guitar. A steal for $600! Price went back up to 943 after I bought it, but I think it's worth even that price. Yes, the guitar is made in China, but it is a legitimate ESP LTD EC-401, not a fake from China. Not all chinese products are equivalents. I thought I had read that these were made in South Korea and was a bit surprised when I saw China, but I evaluated the guitar, took my time to look at it very well, and it is just as good -- and in some respect surpasses - the craftsmanship of my Schecter Hellraiser C-1 from S. Korea. From what I gathered after doing some research, all ESP 400 Series and lower are now made in China or Indonesia. Indonesian guitars are not better than Chinese ones according to many people who have had their hands on many of both of them. It's just a psychological thing to want to avoid Chinese goods because we tend to think of low quality unregulated stuff. These are inspected in the US, so it's not just a Chinese product. According to once source, one out of ten might be a miss whether it's from Indo or China. If you have Amazon, you benefit from their great warranty, so there is no reason not to give it a try if the price is right! On mine, there are only very minor paint imperfections in places that are hard to see (fretboard area only) and that's all. Same story with my Schecter, mind you. The guitar plays wonderfully and truly renewed my passion for playing metal. It's a beautiful piece too - although the fully black version is a bit aesthetically superior in my opinion. It came with good quality D'Addario 10-46 strings so I don't even have to change them. They weren't dirty. It was well packaged and Amazon delivered it extremely quickly with One Day Shipping (A new thing in Montreal - great timing!). I'm using this guitar for D standard stuff right now and it works well. I'm not a professional musician but I feel like I could be with such a good quality guitar. I'd probably want slightly thicker strings for D standard but I'm planning to play E standard as well with this guitar, while using my Schecter for much heavier B standard stuff. Great to have more versatility now and a slightly different sound from the EMG 60 in the neck. P.S. This is the guitar used by Mgła, one of the best black metal bands active right now.

Sehr schöne Verarbeiten, liegt gut in der Hand, hat echt super Klang und für das Geld....einfach nur Top. Bin ein überzeugter LTD fan und spiele schon seit vielen Jahren LTD.Hab ne LTD zu Hause die schon seit knapp 10 Jahren immernoch im top zustand is und nie irgendwelche macken aufwies und das zeugt von Qualität zum kleinen Preis...

This is a guitar made in China. I returned it. If I wanted a made in China guitar, I would have paid a lot less money.
