desertcart.com: Venom by Rick Remender 1: The Complete Collection: 9780785193524: Rick Remender, Marvel Comics: Books Review: One loves Spiderman, the other wants him dead. Can these new wacky roommates survive each other? - Flash Thompson, the one time bully of Peter parker and Spiderman fan boy, has a new gig. Under the supervision of a new iteration of project:rebirth (the organization that made captain America), flash must don the venom symbiote in service to his nation. Reminder just starts the book like this, there's no explanation as to how he was recruited or really how the gov got their hands on venom in the first place. I assume all this was in some other book, but it'd be nice to have that backstory here in the actual book. Still, this is a really good book, especially the characterization of flash. Apparently he's a recovering alcoholic, and reminder makes it abundantly clear that he's just traded the booze for the venom suit. I also really like the Jack o lantern, he's a real monster who's always interesting. The problems with this collection, beyond the lack of backstory mentioned above, is the art in the first arc is really not great, and the spider island event tie in issues. The art gets much better later on though, so not to worry. If you haven't read spider island, you will be very confused I'm all likelihood for those issues, but they do have critical things happen in flash life, so I wouldn't recommend skipping them. Review: Great - This a great book which pits an amputee veteran face to face with an option for redemption but his tool of redemption is also the very thing that can bury him again and pull him back into addiction and a darkness he overcame in the past. The venom symbiotic is simultaneously. Flash Thompson's redeeming tool and his pathway into darkness. This is a story about controlling the addiction within yourself. A great read that I could not put down.

Flash as venom was a fun ride that got really bad toward the end
This series made Jack-o-lantern an intimidating villain, for that alone this series deserves praise. Flash as venom was a fun ride that got really bad toward the end. This first run was a compelling and grounded tale of a man lost in a sea of grey.

I prefer Eddie Brock as Venom but I actually like this approach to character
I prefer Eddie Brock as Venom but I actually like this approach to character. Although I would prefer a better character to don the Venom symbiote than Flash Thompson but eh. Can't win them all. This TPB contains issues 1-12 from Venom (2011) run and a What If thing with Deadpool. Though issues 6-9 are a part of the horribly retarded Spider Island story line, they were great because it was Venom. But you might want to get the Spider Island TPB to get the full story to understand the issues 6-9 but Venom's presence is vague outside these issues. But this TPB is awesome with good artwork and the stories are fun. And I love the (then) new Jack O' Lantern. I write incoherent reviews. I know. Die.

Awesome read! I had heard venom had several failed ...
Awesome read! I had heard venom had several failed solo sereies before this, and now I see why. He needed the Flash Thompson retribution element. There's an entire chspter that focuses solely on flash and his father and it is glorious. Of course venom's vicous fights break up the great drama to make for an excellent read

A great look into Flash Thompson
I have known Eddie Brock as Venom all my life but didnt know much about Flash. This starts with Flash in project Venom and it really shows how a symbiotic relationship begins between the two of them. A must read if you are a Venom fan

Awesome Reimagining
Remender's Venom caught me by surprise. I got this volume free as part of a buy-a-comic-get-one-free deal. With no intention of going beyond vol 1, I ended up reading the entire run. I fell in love with this heroic, soldier version of Venom as well as the artwork.

Great book not so great condition...
The story is great and the art in the book is awesome. My only problem was that it came a little damaged, it was a little bent and the corner and bottom edge was crumpled and bent as well.
