While typical Scotch blends are crafted from grain and malted barley whiskies from multiple distilleries, this blended whisky uses only those distilled at Kininvie, allowing full control of all the variables in the blended spirit. Most Scotch Blends have a high grain and low malt content however in this blend a higher proportion of malt has been used for fruity, light, higher alcohols that act as a solid base, and the grain to give depth and spice. Kininvie Works Kininvie Works is a free-thinking Distillery in Speyside. A place a little out of the way, where a small team like to experiment with new ways to make Scotch Whiskies to create flavour profiles that challenge what’s expected from traditional Scotch Whisky making. Kininvie don’t work to a commercial agenda. They are motivated by what can be learnt, and what kind of Scotch Whiskies they can make – and share. An experimental distillery with heritage roots The Kininvie Distillery was built in Speyside at a time when whisky distilleries were closing their doors.
