Good n tough
This is a solid tool. Just the right weight and works great for splitting wood and driving a wedge. My last axe couldn't hold a candle to this thing. The steel is very good quality. When driving a wedge, the head doesn't become deformed after a few hard strikes. And the best part, the handle is designed to hold up to heavy use. I haven't had it too long but there is no sign that the head might break off, like the cheap thing I had previously did. The handle is a good size and is feels comfortable.

Tough and effective
Well made. Splits big logs well. Handle is very tough.

Good maul for a newbie... Darth Maul anyone? :)
I'm an absolute newbie at splitting wood. We had a large maple taken down in the fall, and the crew left upon my request a huge pile of wood. I bought the maul so I could process these logs into real firewood. I picked this maul based on comparison shopping and reading Amazon reviews. After reviewing a few Youtube videos to get the stance and the method down, I was able to make short work of a lot of very green unseasoned maple. I don't know about other mauls but this one felt pretty straightforward to master and handle effectively. I have about 1/2 the pile of logs split and stacked. And it did not really seem that hard on my back or shoulders. 6 lbs feels like exactly the weight you want for the task.

Effective but with minor ergonomic issues
I don't have a lot of experience with splitting mauls, so I'll compare it with my normal axe. The weight and shape of the head make it great for splitting. It doesn't get stuck as much as my other axe. The handle is strong, and the rubber collar is nice to prevent damage. But the handle feels a bit short to me (5'11"), and it's not as comfortable as my axe handle. And it feels a little flexy. I'd give it 3 stars, but it helps me split a lot of wood, so I can't fault it too much.

chop chop
I am asked if it is lightweight? It's a splitting mall. It's not suppose to be lightweight. Other than the sill question, I used it yesterday and it is well balanced and works very well. It was delivered quickly and packaged securely and safely.

Heavy duty maul!
This is a fantastic splitting maul for the price. Very heavy duty and well put together. The edge is sharp straight from the factory and split the wood cleanly and easily.

Wedge Slid Down the Handle
The maul worked well until the wedge/maul slid down the Handle. Apparently the glue or epoxy was not of quality grade. I returned the maul for a?refund.
