Hot Wire Styrofoam Cutter (Black-15W)

When I first started using this - I was pretty frustrated. It was not performing the way that I expected. However - the more I used it - my technique improved greatly. It takes some practice to get the hang of how to use it. Once I figured out what I was doing (right & wrong) - it was a breeze to use. I am glad I did not give up. I love the tombstones I made for Halloween!

I got this to carve some XPS foam that didn't fit on my hot wire table. I had issues at first not being patient to let it heat up fully before taking it to the XPS foam. It takes a minute or so to get hot enough to cut XPS cleanly. My only (minor) complaint is the heads get unplugged a little too easily. I've unplugged cutting tip several times when moving it through the XPS foam. It hasn't happened often enough to refund/1-star this product.

Does a smooth cut.

I have attempted to use only about 3 times since bought. The only attachment that seems to actually work, without shutting down the system, is the wide wire attachment. The curved hook, short and long straight will not heat up enough to even "melt/cut" through much of anything without tripping the overload circuit and cause the control box to start blinking and power light on the hand piece to blink. You follow the directions and make sure to keep the "volts" less than" for each attachment and it still doesn't work. Can turn it off and back on, and it works for a few seconds then once it starts to heat up it overloads again, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!! it's a pain in the....

I just received it today and wasn't ready to work on my project yet. But, of course I had to open it to make sure it worked. And, boy did it work! It warmed up fast. I played with the wire tip and the small pointed tip. It cut some styrofoam I had just like butta! I can't wait to start on my Christmas village display now. The only concern I've had so far was changing out the tips. I was afraid of burning myself while exchanging them. So, I used my oven mitt just to be safe. I was very surprised how quick it arrived too!

I was really excited to use the product. It was easy to assemble and figure out as a first time Hotwire user. It worked for about an hour and then the main tool the “U” looking piece stopped working. I was really disappointed that it crapped out. I don’t recommend if you are looking for a long time use.

I loved it at first. I got it for cutting foam stuff for cosplay. But the button for hot and went into the handle and stopped work. It felt like it melted into the handle. I even tried to use my finger nail to get the button back out. Before that the button wouldn't turn off so I'd just unplug it when I was done. I used if for a week then it went and bit the dust..... Sad because OMG was it awesome at first.

This tool is perfect. I recommended this item, because is very usable and work perfect.
