Take the dive and do it!
I have absolutely 0 artistic genes in my body and the last time I painted was in grade school (close to 30 years ago). This set came with the 1”, 2”, fanbrush, small lining brush, and knife and all are well crafted and worth the money. The paints are great as well. Like others on here have said, use the paint sparingly because it is all suuuper expensive. The step-by-step dvd and booklet are really good references to use as well. Word of advice: invest in a fairly decent palette to mix colors on. My paintings so far have turned out so-so, but as to be expected with no prior painting background. If you’re on the fence about stepping in to the world of painting, I recommend it! It’s fun and relaxing. You’re doing it for yourself and you can take your time on them too. Bob can knock one of these out in 30 minutes because he’d done thousands, but with practice you will be able to perfect your happy little mountains and happy little trees. Take the plunge and go for it!

Good Starting Point For Your Wet-On-Wet Shopping
What's here is excellent. I would have liked to have a *complete* set of tools for "Wet-On-Wet" at this price point, but unfortunately there's still quite a bit of shopping to be done after this purchase. That said, it's a good starting point for anyone seriously interested in the Bob Ross technique. You will want at least two of every brush in his inventory. 2" and 1" "landscape" brushes, the 1" round and 1/2" round (not included in this set) #6 and #3 Fan Blender (#3 is not included in this set) and the #6 Filbert (also not included.) Additionally, you will want both the #10 knife and the #5 knife (not included here). The paint tubes are a generous size. There probably should have been liquid black and liquid clear (neither included) to accompany the liquid white, and a modestly larger size would have been helpful. Order a larger container of liquid white before you begin as this is merely enough to be annoying. Brushes and Paints by Martin F. Weber and excellent quality. DVD is good.

Read this you won't regret
I had recently taken an interest in watching Bob Ross's old PBS episodes-- and he made it look so easy. I tried acrylic paints from Walmart, different craft stores, but I wasn't getting the same effect that Bob got. I ordered this kit and began painting. First of all, these paints are incredibly dry which is essential in the "Wet on Wet" technique. I would recommend purchasing an additional tube of titanium white as I went through the white pretty quickly. As far as the brushes go, they seem decent. The quality isn't superb, but I would definitely call them decent. I did lose a few brush hairs but that is expectable. If you order this kit I would also recommend purchasing the odorless thinner and the cleaning system. You have to clean your brush a lot in this painting style and the cleaning system makes for a very fast and efficient cleanse. Also, make sure you're using a plastic palette because these paints will soak into wood faster than Bob can paint a mountain. The two attached images were my first two paintings with the Bob Ross supplies. It really makes a world of difference.

It is great way to get started with oil painting
The good: I’ve never oil painted before and this kit is top notch for getting started with oil painting. I’ve never even painted before in my 27 years until last week with acrylic. This kit definitely made me feel optimistic about continuing oil painting because I’ve heard acrylic is easier. I didn’t want to give up on oil painting because oil paintings have so much depth and an mesmerizing realistic feel to it and I needed to feel comfortable with it and this kit and the reviews for this kit really helped me. I wish I knew of it earlier!!! The bad: The bristles fall off on the fan brush and that was a little upsetting. The 2” brush is not as sturdy as it should be.

I'm sold - from no experience at all, to making paintings that give me joy
Update: Every painting I have tried since I posted this review has improved. Am posting another photo of a couple more that show the growth. A friend got me this beginner set for my birthday. I've watched the Joy of Painting for many years - way back in college I'd watch it to fall asleep - still do - but it wasn't until the last year that I was watching it and getting that itch to really give it a go for myself. My only real barrier to entry was the equipment, which to me is quite expensive. When my friend presented this to me I was overjoyed. I've never done any kind of painting before - much less oil, but I did my research and got the needed items to accompany this set. If there is one drawback to this it is that you need to invest more money to actually start. I bought the Bob Ross odorless thinner (though I wonder if the Mona Lisa brand would also work as well - you get more for your money there - if anyone knows, please comment), got the beater rack, bucket, table easel, and some additional paints and brushes that were not included (though now I know you can definitely paint the picture from the DVD with the paint included - just need a basic understanding of mixing colors). Here are few of my early experiences and mistakes that might help other beginners: My first painting was a wasted canvas because I put on too much liquid white - I found out later that night from a blog that you only need enough so that you can put your finger on the canvas and see a clear fingerprint. I felt a little discouraged but wasn't ready to give up - I'd invested too much money in it for that. I took another shot that night and made a pretty good effort. People (friends on Facebook and family) seemed impressed and thought it was great (I've attached the image). Still working on pallet management and not wasting paint. It takes a few paintings before you see a trend in which colors you use the most. I use (in order of the most used) Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, and Van Dyke Brown the most. I'd recommend you buy the 150 ml tubes of it - this set comes with the 37ml tubes - to buy these individually its anywhere from 6-10 bucks (depends on color) per 37 ml tube. So far I have found the 150 ml tubes to be much more cost effective. They are between 12 and 17 bucks typically on Amazon. I did the math and it's something like 4.04 37 ml tubes for every 150 ml tube. It's a no brainer - no longer buying the tiny tubes. Also, when painting make sure you beat off all of the thinner from your brushes when cleaning them. I was being too gentle and found out the hard way that you can turn solid paintings into a thin watery substance on the canvas. Once I really "beat the devil out of it" the whole game changed. I'd say that my first 3 paintings were affected by that mistake. I have attached my very first painting (the one I actually completed) and my most recent paintings (#4 and #5 respectively in the same photo) as an encouragement to those who wish to begin painting without any experience. I think the improvement I've made from paintings 1 to 5 are encouraging - especially to me - someone who has no experience or a formal teacher. It can be done - don't give up - let the mistakes teach you and there are always further tips online to help. Improvement is ready to happen. This beginner set is a fairly affordable purchase to taste and see if you want to continue and grow in the wet on wet technique. Push through the mistakes (errrrr happy accidents) and keep on going. Happy painting and God bless!

Best Novice Wet-on-Wet Oil Painting Supplies
One of the best purchases I’ve made! I watched a few Bob Ross episodes on Netflix and I said, “Eff it, I’m going to paint.” Glad this starter kit had nearly everything a true novice would need. I had to purchase the canvases, palette, odorless paint thinner, bucket and rack for odorless paint thinner, and the brush beater to really get the paint off the brushes separately (they were all available on Amazon). The upfront cost is a lot but it’s worth it and I think I can get one more painting out of the paints included in the kit (I’ve painted two already). My siblings and I watched Bob Ross with our dad growing up, it was magical, and had it not been for Netflix, which allowed me to be inspired to try painting, I wouldn’t have known I could somewhat paint. My next investment is a bigger palette like Bob’s and a quality easel. I’m so happy these products exist and that Bob Ross planned long-term by creating these tools for his fans then and in the future. I’ve included my very first (mountain) and second (seascape) paintings, both using what’s included in the set. We don’t have a DVD player so I couldn’t follow along the video included in the set or the Netflix episodes. I also have to paint outside for proper ventilation (I have two kids and a dog so I definitely can’t have fumes inside the house). I’ll try to upload on here the time-lapse videos of me painting these so one can see how easy Bob had made it for beginners to paint; it took me about an hour for each. If I didn’t have distractions (toddler wanting my attention and a baby crawling everywhere) and if I had more brushes so I didn’t need to spend more time cleaning them in between, I believe 30 minutes, like the show, is absolutely doable! Also, a proper easel like Bob’s would allow me to paint the bottom better. Without an easel, I have to prop the canvas on the back of a chair and I have to hold the canvas with one hand while painting so it didn’t move around. Painting the bottom details with the canvas on a chair is the most challenging because the handles of the knife and sometimes brushes bump into the seat of the chair, compromising the particular angle the knife against the canvas has to be in order to create ripples on the sand for instance or apply the paint like Bob does to create the effect of a pathway (similar way he would the details of a mountain, for reference). I’m aware I still need a lot of practice (especially with my waves), but I’m so proud of my very first two paintings all due to Bob’s ability to inspire anyone to paint and that this set takes away the guessing of which basic materials one would need to do so. Don’t keep thinking about it, just buy it! You’ll have no regrets.

Great starting kit.
I loved this paint set. Bob Ross is an excellent teacher, however it is very important to take it slow and pay attention to what he says. I spent three hours on his one hour instruction video, but am extremely happy with the result. The point of this paint kit, in my opinion, is to get started. After painting for a while, you will quickly realize that you will need a lot more liquid white, titanium white, a second set of each brush, and a lot of paint thinner. But this is a great kit to get you to that point. Another suggestion, do not (and I repeat, do NOT) put a lot of paint on your pallets. You will see Bob with GIANT globs of it, however for 1 - 2 paintings, you only need a little bit. I've added a photo of my first ever painting.

If you are considering this, go ahead and get it! Worth the leap of faith!
I love this set for anyone beginning into the Bob Ross method. I've read reviews on here that it did not come with all the colors listed on the video. I hesitated before purchasing. Oh, how I wish I had not hesitated! I went ahead and purchased the missing colors (I found them listed in the answers to questions). When I received the box, I read the printed instructions on how to paint the painting that is on the DVD. Those instructions detail what colors you can use to achieve similar results as Bob without all the colors. I found that my highlight colors looked better with the cadmium yellow than the Indian Yellow anyway. (I did not even apply yellow ochre to my palette for this painting). Van Dyke Brown is such a versatile color and since he does not use Burnt Sienna straight out of the tube, you could dull the brown with white or lightening it with yellow and achieve similar results. I wish someone had commented about how the instruction sheet gave you instructions on how to use the colors he used and that you do not necessarily need the extra colors he uses in the video, so I'm including this here for other. The joy and stress relief I'm receiving from this kit is worth it's purchase price over and over! I am thrilled that this is available for nearly half what my local art store charges for it! Thank you for such a competitive price. If you are considering purchasing this, don't consider anymore, just get it.

The best art set I’ve ever bought!
What a difference good paint makes! I love this set. Especially after watching him on BBC4 week nights! This set has helped me paint lots of happy little accidents - that look amazing! I’ve never taken art classes but can’t believe what I’ve created so far. The paints are good sizes and you really don’t need a lot. The colour quality is rich and vibrant. Brushes and knife a pleasure to work with.

Composants de qualité, produits dans des différents pays.
Livraison rapide . Le colis correspond au description. Par contre, je trouve bizarre que les différents composants sont produits en Allemagne, en chine et aux UK. Ceci dit, le matériel est de bonne qualité.

High Quality Starting Paint Set for Wet on Wet Landscape Paintings!
For Bob Ross landscape paintings, this set is good value. Looking at buying the individual brushes alone + the knife would cost almost as much as the set. Also this gets you 1/2 of the paints you require and you can still make 4 paintings just with the colors included in the set. The quality of the brushes and knife in the set is very good, along with the paints are high quality as well. You will still need a canvas, cleaning supplies, an easel and other products, but this set is probably one of the 3 main expenses you need to get started (the other 2 being the easel and the remaining paints). The packaging and feel of this product is very good. I have painted a lot of latex and oil based painting and the brush quality of this set is high quality. I did note some complaints from reviewers stating you cannot paint one of the paintings in the DVD video, however they do provide written and visual instructions in the set on how to paint the scene using only the colors contained in the set. I do think as a starting set for landscape painting you would be hard pressed to find a better starting kit than this that has everything you need to be ready to paint.

Ottimo prodotto
