Use this product to alert you to line power outages. I use it to trigger a flashing light which alerts me to loss of shore power to my motorhome. The unit provides a long cord with a two conductor cable which is internally connected to a normally open relay. When power fails, the relay contacts close and the two conductor cable becomes a closed circuity. It's only capable of handling 500 milliamps so you have to be careful if you use it to carry your load current. It would be easy to connect it to the trigger input of another device should you need to control more current. The unit itself is designed to plugged in directly to an outlet powered by the source you want to monitor. The instructions say it should be plugged in directly, not connected via extension cord or power strip. The device has delays for both power loss triggering and power restoration. You should use something else if you need instantaneous triggering. The delay is published as 3-8 minutes. In my installation it is usually much closer to 3. Well designed and simple to use. If it meets your needs this is a winner.
