Alaterre Alpine Live Edge Solid Wood Rustic Entryway Bench, Natural, 36”

Am blown away at how nice these are. They are made of several planks secured together and finished to look like a raw slab. While they are not one solid piece of wood, they absolutely are heavy duty thick hunks of wood with lots of visual interest. They were packed very well and arrived in mint condition. The hardware is solid hunks of blackened sturdy metal. Very easily to assemble with no additional tools needed. There are level adjustment feet on the bottom for bumpy floors. Personally, I think this could hold a lot of weight. Would also be appropriate as a small coffee table. The two pieces I ordered are slightly unique giving these that handmade craftsman appearance I was looking for. Truly stunning and exceptional value.

So much better than I thought it was going to be in person! The wood quality is lovely and the bench itself is sturdy, no wobble. The only thing I will say is if you sit towards the front and lean forward to put your shoes on it will tip forward and the back lifts off the ground, so gotta be careful of that.

I love the look of thick 'live edge' furniture, but true single-pieces of good live-edge wood at this size/thickness can be very expensive & heavy. This bench is made of multiple beautiful pieces, so you get the gorgeous thick live-edge look at a better price point, with the added bonus that it's not so super heavy. It's still pretty heavy though, but VERY sturdy and the legs are very easy to put on. A tiny complaint is that the legs are biased a few inches off center to give it a 'front side/back side' and make it more stable, but I liked to 'back-side' edge facing out better, so it's a little tippy (no way to reverse the leg bias). That's on me being super picky I guess lol.

I ordered this bench for my back entry & it surpassed my expectations! Wonderfully packaged, easy to assemble. The wood is beautiful, I love the live edge. It elevated my space, while providing sturdy function. One side has a lighter edge, the other darker, providing great styling options.

Our home has mid-century decor with modern light fixtures and some teak furniture. We wanted a front hall bench that would blend with this. We were fortunate to receive this bench just a few days after ordering it. I was a bit suspicious about quick delivery because, when I'd previously looked, the delivery time was much longer. When we unpacked the bench, it appeared as if it had been previously assembled. One of the 8 metal fittings in the benchtop was recessed and crooked, and there were recessed areas around each fitting, as if washers had been pressed in. Before continuing, we tested the crooked fitting to be sure a screw would go in straight. It did, so we proceeded to assemble the bench. There were 8 screws, 8 washers, and an allen wrench in the hardware pouch, and assembly was straightforward. Instructions were included, but they made no reference to the washers. The bench legs are sturdy, and the nylon feet adjust, so the bench may be leveled as necessary. The metal legs are hollow. The bench top is laminated, but this does not detract from the overall appearance. Obviously wood is a natural product with lots of imperfections, but this is part of its beauty. The wood is acacia. Our bench was labeled as made in India. We are happy with the bench, and would purchase it again.

The Good -- The bench is very pretty and very easy to put together. The bench seat and the legs are made of very study material. The bad -- the design of the leg bases make it unstable. The leg bases should be wider with respect to the width of the bench so that when you sit on the bench and bend over to put your shoes on, the bench should not topple forward as your weight shifts forward. This could be very dangerous, especially for seniors and kids. The design should have a wider leg-base or a triangular-shaped leg leg-base with a wide bottom so that the bench is more safe. Every time I sit to put on my shoes, the bench topples forward so we have to be very careful. This could be a very easy fix in the design if the manufacturer would make minor changes -- if such changes were made, I would have given it 5-stars all around.

It’s expensive, but worth it. I’ve had my bench for maybe 5 months, I love it. Everyone that visits my house says how beautiful it is and they are happy to have somewhere to sit to remove their shoes. It’s sturdy and I’m happy i purchased it.
