Don’t buy the cheaper junk; this is PERFECT
My $150k RV has a dumb battery meter that tries to guess capacity from voltage. Adding this meter gave me actually useful info. It’s awesome how it seamlessly switches between time remaining (when on discharge) to time until full (when charging). It’s been flawless. I 3D printed a small housing for it and it looks right home in my RV. The shunt was easy to install and can handle big current without adding resistance. I looked at cheaper options and they came with bad shunts, small screws/lugs, and got poor reviews for reliability. Don’t do it- just get the Renogy.

So much better than the others I had! BUY THIS ONE!
Just a backgroud. I had purchase 2 of the L**X brand, the full color version. Looked great. But the menu was no longer the one that they have now. It seems there are 3 versions and no one has the one I had. They never tid work based on extensive instructions from the selle. FAST FORWARD TO RENOGY! EXCELLENT ALL THE WAY AROUND! For the two I had, I swapped out thee shunt, did a little rewirie to clean up the backup battery setup, connecte dthe Renogy and it powered on. The default Ah is 100 and that's what I have. All set up with nothing else to do! Aftre about 15 hours of work on the others with no results, I am AMAZED. Now THIS is how you do it. I did the soemwhat more difficult replacement in my ham radio portable kit (inside a rack-mount case, where the shelves have to be removed). Replacing the shunt and everything else wasn't as easy, that not due to Renogy; my setup is compact and under layers and it is hard to get to things inside. But for making the mounting plate to replace the smaller piece I had, I just plugged in tin and there it was! Set the capacity (will need to redo after a full charge and there, right in the menu was an easy setting for the Ah, which took moments. Everything works as it is supposed to and all very easy. Almost sets itself up once installed and powered Love my Renogy suitcase panels and these are completely excellent. The screen, when off, is a dim grayscale, but draws no current at all somehow. Looks fine in the light. The green screen wout be nice in high contrast plack and white or full color, but I only mention this to my low vision. I can do without the nice screen for this easy setup and bigger screen. BUY THS IS YOU NEED A MOINITOR (OR TWO OR THREEE!)

works but....
now that i finally have this thing properly installed i ~love~ it, almost addicted to monitoring my monitor. but.... i knew i was going to need to buy a short heavy cable to go between the negative terminal and the shunt. check. thank goodness i got the 3/8th inch ring terminals, because.... what i didn't know is that the shunt terminals would be be larger than my existing inverter neg ring terminal. arggh. i tried reaming my ring terminal out with a rasp. nope. tried then i got brilliantly frustrated and tried to drill it out. baaaad move. the bit stayed put and the wire twisted into a knot in a split second. luckily no one was harmed by this ~fail~, and back to amazon to order a new wire with larger rings, live without my inverter to use, and without it in the mix on the shunt. grrrh. a couple other ring terminals were also too small, but the wire was thin enough awg to cut off the terminals and add the right rings, which i luckily had on hand- i live full time on the road in the desert southwest so not easy to find parts. so by the time my inverter wire got delivered and i could install everything properly to the shunt, i had accidentally reset the whole system twice. follow me here: the screen lights up when you push and hold the top button, and the lighted screen turns off with the same button. the second button, right under the top button, resets the amp hours to 100% when you push and hold it. these two buttons are tiny and right next to each other, and are ~not lit up~. so twice when i went to turn the screen light off at night, i pushed the wrong little button, resetting my ah's. that forces you to wait till you can top off your batts to 100% and reset the whole monitor again. a small tweak of this product would fix this problem- let the screen light shine through the top button only so it can be distinguished in the dark. i now have to shine a light on the screen each evening to be absolutely sure i'm pushing the right button to turn the screen off. so i know some of my tribulations with this monitor were my own fault, but for a system add-on product like this, the shunt terminals should be default size 5/16, not 3/8 inch, to be universal and make for a WAY easier install. but yeah, i freakin' love this thing, love all the info i get off it. beats guessing by the amps showing on my charge controller how much juice i might have. now i can run my battleborns down to between 80 and 50% most of the time- i read that lifepo4 doesn't really like to stay topped off at 100%. so buy this, but be prepared by checking all your negative terminals and make sure you have what you need to modify them!

Tips on lengthening Battery Monitor Shielded Wire.
So we ordered this Renogy Battery Monitor for our travel trailer. Overall it's a nice unit, but it can be a bit frustrating to set it up. One issue we faced was the length of the shielded wire from the shunt to the monitor. It is only about 19.6 feet long and we needed to add another 16 feet to it. The wire is not something that you go and pick up at any big box store. It's a tiny 26AWG with a shield around it. But we discovered that Amazon also sells a 26 feet version of this exact wire. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082ZPGYHZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details So we ordered the wire and sure enough it's the exact size and specs. as the Renogy wire. The only difference if that one end of the plug does not fit the Renogy. So, we used the end that fits the Renogy, then carefully cut the wire to the desire length and spliced it to the wire we had. It is important to take your time and be super careful when you cutting those tiny wires. It is best to solder them together and tape them good with electrical tape. Make sure you connect the shielded wired together too. Our works great and without any issues.

Easy to understand instructions
Just finished installation in our RV. Would suggest Renogy consider a WiFi solution for remote access to monitor your batteries remotely. Ours is in storage many months and would like to have the convenience factor! Other than that running the monitor wire took the majority of time, just because it’s labor intensive! Installation was straightforward and a piece of cake…not only that but it worked the first time!!!!

What did I like ? - the fact that everything you need comes in the kit. Wire(s), shunt, gauge just plug and play. It’s easy, then it all comes alive. Great ! 👍😊
