As it turns out I think they are really excellent value and plenty accurate enough over the expected temperature range of use. I've compared them at 20C and they are within 0.5C. Edit : I've been moving these round the house to measure different heating success within each room and now I've installed three (see photo) to monitor my condensing boiler flow and return temperatures. This data can be accessed through fiddly menus, with lots of button presses, but now I can see everything I need at a glance. What you require is a hydrometer a different device entirely but there are probably small ones available.
