We needed a latch for our older kids bedroom loft upstairs because our toddler was opening the door and climbing the stairs by herself. For a simple need in keeping a door,cabinet,or fence closed this works well,i used it for one side of the fence where the lock became old and not usable.Very nice quality,should last a long time wherever you use it
