In the Steps of Saint Paul Review: An excellent resource, well-laid-out - An excellent resource, well-laid-out, with lots of insights into the places visited by Paul. Love the maps, the dated lists of history relevant to each area, and especially all the illustrations. Walker takes us on Paul's journeys and relates Paul's personal growth along the way, backed up with historical context from Paul's letters, Acts, and outside sources. All is told within the greater sphere of Roman history and the even larger scope of God's plan of grace, the details of which the apostles were just beginning to understand. Review: Extraordinary Journey - This book is extraordinary. The text vividly describes Paul's missionary journeys and provides thoughtful insights into his relationships with other leaders of the early church and of the towns and regions that he visited. I appreciated the maps, timelines and frequent references to the Book of Acts and all of Paul's letters. The book itself is beautiful and is filled with first-rate photographs of the age-old sites where Paul lived and worked.

Informative
I strongly disagree with the introduction of this book, but if one can ignore it, the rest of the book is informative and has interesting, pertinent, well done photos. Good for the traveler.

so good that I bought the book for 6 friends who ...
I recently was on a tour of Greece and Ephesis, Turkey with Footstep Ministries, following the footsteps of Paul from place to place. We saw lots of sites, took lots of photos, and studied Paul's travels. This book is an outstanding resource for before or after the trip......so good that I bought the book for 6 friends who were on the trip with me.

Beautiful Book
I am teaching the Book of Acts online. This book was so helpful in giving life to all of the places Paul visited on his missionary journeys. The author writes for different audiences. Nevertheless, this book met my needs in understanding Paul better and the world in which he preached.

Don't miss this book!
One of the very best books of this type I've read. My training is in theology, and I am always glad to see a work of this type that is informative for lay people as well as those with more formal education in the filed of biblical studies. I cannot recommend this work too highly. Be sure to get the companion volume, In the Steps of Jesus.

I couldn't put it down. The detailed descriptions of what the ancient cities used to look like when St. Paul visited them were fascinating. His knowledge about the cultures of the time was also illuminating.

This is an excellent book: well researched, well written and a joy to read. It was recommended to me by a friend who had bought her copy only a week before, and she wasn't exaggerating. I like the layout of the chapters, all of which begin with a Scriptural foundation, then a commentary, followed by a description of what each place is like today. The book is illustrated with fine maps and lots of interesting photographs (some of which seem to have had the Photoshop treatment). It's a fine addition to any serious Bible student's library, and I can thoroughly recommend it.

An excellent support to the reading of the epistles, with overviews, historical and geographical information, supplemented by brilliant photograps, charts and maps etc-a very good read and well researched by the author.

Bought this as a present for my Dad (St Paul visited the country he's from), he is very pleased with it and we now want to borrow it. Like the way it is set out so you get the biblical information, history and then present day-would love to have the money to follow in St Paul's steps using this book!
