BOSCH 0280217500 Original Equipment Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor - Compatible with Select Mercedes-Benz 300E, 300CE, 300TE, C280, E320, S320, SL320

I had a problem with poor performance ie, rough idling, foul smelling exhaust, mpg degradation. The problem was intermittent, I thought the problem might be o2 sensor, not a tough repair, but time consuming. With the engine running, and not acting up, I tapped the mass air flow sensor firmly with bare knuckles. The problem manifested immediately, causing me to believe the Mass Air Flow Sensor was the culprit. I priced a BOSCH OEM replacement from MB at over $500.00 +. I ordered this from AMZN with overnight delivery, installed it literally in minutes. The numbers from my existing BOSCH sensor MATCHED perfectly with the replacement for my 1994 E320 with 248K miles. The results are no less than stellar for this product, I highly recommend. On the Road Again....

This device is an original Bosch Mass Air Flow Meter with hot film measure element. It is NOT a Chinese Knock Down version as one may suspect. I purchased the meter at an absolutely great price. When I purchased my E320 it was equipped with an Chinese version. Since the engine was completely neglected by the previous owner, I had of course issues with passing the CA smog test. Although, this device was not directly involved with the bad emission, I felt much better knowing that this one could be scratched off the list. Don't get me wrong, the Chinese alternative may work just as good. The design is cheaper and because of that, the meter might fail because of mechanical stress (sensors out of alignment). With the Bosch Meter, it is not possible to get the sensor out of alignment.

I bought this part and gave it to my mercedes mechanic. After placing it on the vehicle it didt not fix the problem. Th mechanic tested it and the vlotages were not to spec. Before I could get it back to return, he traded it in as the core on one that worked. Now I am out the $300 this cost me. Once again I did not get what I paid for. This seems to be a recurring theme in my life lately. What every happened to giving the customer what they pay for?

Was defective, had to return -- was a returned unit from Amazon warehouse. Did not work at all, immediately lit up the "check engine" light, engine ran terribly. Could have been defective. Have no way of knowing if it was a genuine Bosch unit -- there are a lot of copycats around that make sure to look identical from the outside.

my 95 e320 had an erratic idle, looked in to several possible issues. When I unplugged the MAF (rotate the bezel on the harness) my engine stopped hunting for idle. this was at best $200 cheaper, at worst $35 cheaper than any other I searched. In regards to the first review, It really is just unhooking the harness, one screw and two clips to remove. Why you would give one star for your mechanic "trading in" your MAF is beyond rediculous. he probably kept it, and billed you for another. Learn to turn a wrench and you wont be at the mercy of shady mechanics. Thanks Amazon!

This makes the car run worse than what it was. This item is not used in good condition it is used in bad condition it was very used for the point of not functioning correctly so I will be returning, it doesn’t function properly at all.

perfect, need 30% less patrol. After install in an M104 motor of mercedes you have to teach the idle plate. have a look in the red !!
