Xbox Kinect
It works great. No issues.

It works!
We ordered a Kinect from a different vendor and it just would not boot at all. Got a return/refund and replaced it with the Kinect from this vendor, and it worked great! We've been playing the heck out of Just Dance. The 4x replay after is the best part of the game, gotta have the Kinect for that. Wish Microsoft had never killed this great product.

Kinect - Xbox one! Worth it!
Using it to play Kinect with my siblings like I used to in the 2000’s very happy with how it came and I like it very well, although the sound input is kinda bad but overall still very enjoyable. I would highly recommended getting one to play Kinect games with children or people of all ages, as long as you have the space to move freely you should be good. Before playing a game that requires audio to listen from the Kinect (like Kinect sports rival can be hands free by using your voice to back out of a selection or continue the game) you should adjust the settings on your Kinect so you don’t have trouble like us. :)

Xbox Kinnet, Microsoft new WMC
Please note this review is going to focus on the media center / entertainment aspects of the Xbox Kinect rather than the gaming experience. I never really got this to play games, I got this as an addition to my home automation setup which includes smart lights and a certain Amazon products which insists on calling itself Alexa :P Pros: It can be used to control aspects of your PC which combined with the Xbox and Microsoft's Media Center almost makes this the "One" media solution. Give your Xbox voice control, even for your connected HDMI devices / Media Center PC which is great! I was able to pair the Xbox with my WMC remote using remote code N1272. I have my Xbox setup so when I say the magic "Xbox on" command, it auto-magically turns on my Projector and Sound System. Now I can use my media center almost completely by voice! Microsoft announced the ability to connect a TV turner to this and will be adding DVR. However, you can get both those features by connecting your Microsoft PC with WMC now! Connecting your PC to the Xbox one also give the Xbox a better web experience. Cons: Note this connects to the Xbox via a proprietary USB 3 connection. What does this mean for you? Cable length is an issue, at only 9ft (Which is the max distance for USB type connections) The workaround for this are NOT cheep. Microsoft does make an adapter for the Kinect which allows you to attached to your PC. 1. You could buy the PC adapter for this ~$50 and use a standard USB to connect to your Xbox but keep in mind your still have a 9ft USB cable length. Kinect Adapter for Windows 2. The other workaround for longer distances requires both the converted as mentioned above and a USB to Ethernet ( RJ45) adapter which can cost upward of $$$. While you can use the Xbox to control one guide channel changing, it will not work with other aspects of a connect PC. Steaming on Windows 10 from the Xbox is nice...but a bit of a novelty at this point as you can only steam the video, no mouse or keyboard controls...yet

Two bum units and all I got to show for it was this terrible Amazon review
1st product was shipped out rapidly (hurray!) and arrived safely (hurray!). I plugged it into the adapter and connected it to my computer. The unit was successfully detected by my computer (hurray!) and I booted up the software to use the Kinect. The kinect powered on, displayed an image at a shockingly low framerate of 2-10 FPS (huh?) then shut off. After doing some research online, I discovered that some Kinect v2s have bad thermal sensors which prevent the fan from triggering; when the internal temperature reaches higher levels, the unit shuts off to prevent further damage from overheating. Well, darn, I got a bad unit. No biggie; it's a refurbished unit, and I figured there'd be a (small) chance I'd get a bad one. Bad luck, oh well! I just requested a replacement. Amazon's service made it easy to make happen, and the next unit was slated to be delivered a week later. 2nd Unit shows up... And it's in far, far worse condition. Scratches over the faceplate, looked like it'd been dropped in it's lifetime. Not great, but (sigh) I ordered a refurbished unit. I could care less, as long as it works as intended. Plugged it into my PC, device manager shows it connected, aaaaaannndddd... nothing. Not even an image. I can't even get it to turn on this time. Two bum units from the same seller? One right after the other? That's gotta be some kind of record, right? I'm returning these and asking for the full refund -- has been a complete waste of my time.

It works
A review about a product that hasn’t been produced new in 5 years is all about the refurbishment quality but Amazon policy is I must review only the product and they rejected my prior review about the horrible refurbishment job by this vendor so this review is only about the product. Kinect is no longer made for XBox. This version that originally shipped with XBox One (also known as version 2) is significantly upgraded from the prior XBox 360 version (known as version 1) and my understanding is a version virtually identical to XBox one version continues to ship for around $600-700 as part of a developers kit but only for Windows PC. What you need to know: - is not compatible with XBox S/X - this works well on my 10 year old PC that has an I7 chip, stock graphics and plenty of RAM - to use on PC you need an adapter to supply power plus convert to USB. It MUST be USB 3.0. The adapters are readily available for around $20 on Amazon though might not be OEM. Harder to find but cheaper elsewhere. - I use it for 3D scanning and can’t comment on using it for PC gameplay - it is not plug and play however lots of information on the web and Microsoft.com. Basically you need to download drivers (mine didn’t auto download but apparently is possible they will for you), a software development kit from the MS App Store and application software. Software has very limited choices but the Microsoft store has a free app (3d Scan and 3d Viewer) that works well enough for image capture and lots of 3d image editing software out there. - what nobody on YouTube tells you (and I found in the Microsoft support database) is that you may need to manually install a driver that is dated in 2016. Mine didn’t work until I found this driver. It took about 2 minutes to download and install. I think it needed a reboot afterwards. - Microsoft has a multi part tutorial in their “Learn” section on 3d scanning with Kinect that for newbies is worth viewing. It works really well but isn’t magic. For 3d scans you want reasonable light, a way to rotate the object or move the camera and preferably a bland background. You’ll want software for editing out artifacts and filling gaps. The guy on Teaching Tech YouTube channel has good info relevant to 3d printing and I found several others.

Best accessory for your Xbox
I loved this kinect. I have always wanted a kinect but coudnt find a deal. Then I found this. I was not sure if I should buy it because it is renewed but I was wrong. This thing costed me around 100 dollars and works great. It works like brand new. If you have a xbox one S or X you would need a separate adapter with it which costed me around 20 dollars. I got a third party and works great. Anyways back to the kinect. It is a must have accessory for you xbox. You have a wide selection of games that you can buy for it. I bought the Kinect Sports Rivals. The motion sensing is great and the mic is good for mic commands and other uses. You can also connect this to your PC or laptop. So overall I loved it And would recommend to anyone that has a xbox. But you have to buy anothertype of kinect for you xbox 360. I also think that it doesnt work with the series s or x, but I am not sure. So if you are shaky about buying it or not definitely buy it for any type of your xbox one. And I dont know why there are so many bad reviews about it. But form me 5 stars!!!
