How long does this last?

Depends if leave in a hot 115 degree mailbox or car for a week, obviously it's going to dry out. How long it lasts depends on if you follow the instructions in the back. Most people take them out and you are not supposed to do that. That is why they dry out so fast. If you follow the directions and leave the plastic half on as the directions state they will last longer. But the bottom line is something will only last as well as you treat it.

I think they were old

I used to buy these all the time and they would last for months. I took it completely out of the wrapper which I used to do an inch at a time so it would last. It didn't even have a scent when I opened it. I bought a pack and they are all the same. I can hardly smell them.
