how often shoudl the filter be changed?

Almost never. When you lose it or it breaks.

Do you have bigger diameter? and does it work for hot brewing?

Since this is made for a fairly specific collection of Yama brewers, this is the only diameter. It can be used in hot brewing as a supplement to a permanent mesh-type filter, since it's meant to catch fine sediment that metal filters might let escape.
