Great vegan protein and complex carbohydrate source
At 70% protein, you get a lot of bang for your buck with this brown rice protein. The chocolate flavor incorporates natural cocoa powder and has no added sugar, so you may want to sweeten with something like Stevia or dextrose. It is a bit "chalky," as others have pointed out, but that is to be expected with any protein powder, especially rice. Call me crazy, but I think it actually smells a little like chocolate ice cream. I mix this with almond milk, Navitas Naturals raw organic cacao powder , Stevia, and a few other goodies to make a protein shake that ends up tasting great. Again, you have to know what to expect with any protein powder. It's not going to taste like a sugar-loaded chocolate milkshake from McDonald's, unless you're using a highly processed protein powder with lots of additives and sweeteners. I would assume those buying this brown rice protein are attempting to avoid additives and animal-derived ingredients. Either way, this brown rice protein is great as a post-workout shake because it has a decently full amino acid profile and is also a complex carbohydrate, which gives you the fuel your muscles crave while it improves protein and creatine transport.

Not too bad!
Tried this Nutribiotic Rice Protein powder this morning in my shake. It definitely has that typical plant based protein powder consistency, but it does blend well. It tastes better than pea and soy protein. The chocolate flavor is very mild, but I don’t mind it as I don’t like overpowering flavors. I mixed 10oz almond milk, 3tbsp rice protein, 1/2 c frozen blueberries, half a large banana, cinnamon, and 2 tbsp PB2. Blended in my bullet for 30-40 second and it came out delicious. Not gritty or sand like, with the perfect flavors of banana and blueberry. I have IBS and diverticulitis, and so far no stomach upset, bloating, gas, etc. I eat a plant based diet and look forward to using this in my shakes pre or post workout. Low calorie, low carb, low sugar, and not too much protein. I’ll update in a week or so!

Eck.. The Taste of This!
I wanted a protein powder that didn't contain gelatin or other non-vegetarian/vegan ingredients at a reasonable price. This one seemed to fit what I wanted, but in reality once I tried it.. it really didn't. This powder has a horrible taste. It really tastes nothing like chocolate, and even when mixed with chocolate it still has that awful taste. I've tried mixing it with various things, and all it seems to do is ruin the taste of anything you mix it with. The texture is so chalky, and grainy that I find myself nearly choking trying to drink anything it's mixed with-- which, by the way it doesn't fully mix with anything it stays chunky and grainy.

Looking for an ORGAIN substitute...this is okay
I am new user to protein powders. We started with ORGAIN, which I love, but having a hard time finding it right now. COSTCO is out of stock...as are other on-line retailers. Amazon has it, but super high price (supply and demand, I'm sure.) Anyway, I decided to branch out and try other rice proteins, as that is the first ingredient in ORGAIN. Anyway, its OK. Pretty chalking, but not unbearable. Quite tasteless, in my opinion, which isn't all bad. It has a specific odor that I don't love, but can get past. I decided to order some monk fruit and Erythnitol (might have spelled that wrong)- sugar substitutes that are in ORGAIN. Hoping they will do the trick to make this a bit easier to consume. It is OK mixed in a smoothie with fruit, but...If I could just enjoy it shaken up in a blender bottle, that would be quicker and easier. We shall see...sugar substitutes should be delivered Thursday... I will post an update after I try it. BTW- I ordered the larger container of the vannilla version of this...I taste no difference. They even smell the same. One other note- I am on day 9 of no sugar, no wheat/gluten/ no dairy 10 day detox. So my taste buds are quite "cleansed." Probably why I am being so picky! Update 4/8/15: I tried it a free sample of Stevia (probably only used an 1/8t.) w/ about 1T. protein powder and added about a 1/2t. of organic cacao. Much better taste...and reduced the funky smell. Also, I just shook this one up a blender bottle with about 1C unsweetened almond milk and ice. Still chalky, but I can get past that if the taste is OK. This AM I used about 3T. Rice protein, 1t. cacao, 1/2 banana, 1T. flax seed (meal), 1/2C. unsweetened almond milk, ice and a bit of water. Popped on a bullet blender...taste...perfect! Nice and chocolaty with the added cacao and perfect sweetness with the banana! Might not even need the other sugars I ordered. Anyway...I am enjoying the experiments! Stay healthy my friends!

So glad I discovered this product.
I am lactose and soy intolerant, so when I discovered this rice protein, I was totally excited! I ordered 3 chocolate flavored, to get free shipping, and there's no doubt in my mind, I will be using all of it. I just ordered 3 of the vanilla flavor as well. This product works well with a shaker cup. There is a slight gritty texture, but this is to be expected with all rice products. It doesn't bother me a bit. I would recommend this to my best friend.. but, wait! I already did. The chocolate flavor is chocolatey, but not "strong" chocolatey, so I sometimes add about a teaspoonful of carob powder or 1/4 teaspoonful of cocoa powder before shaking things up.

I enjoy this product
I have only tried the chocolate and vanilla flavors, but both are good. At first I started drinking it with water and a small amount agave. Now that I am used to it I just drink it in a pint of plain water. There is no use for the agave because I'm just going to chug it right after a tough workout. Sometimes I'll have it as a shake of sorts to go with my breakfast. It feels great in the tummy. 1 scoop vanilla powder 1 ripe banana 1 cup rice milk or coconut milk 3 ice cubes or frozen mango chunks a dash of pumpkin pie spice or 1 scoop chocolate protein powder 1 ripe banana 1 cup rice milk or coconut milk a handful of frozen blueberries - The blue berries really do something great along with the chocolate flavor I have heard that soy protein doesn't sit well with some people and you can even develop an allergy to it. I'm not sure if that's true because I've never had it. I can tell you that Nutribiotic rice protein does not mess with my tummy at all. I just ordered some pea protein for the first time, so I am going to mix the two and see how that goes. *Suggestion* If mixing by hand, It's easier to mix in water if you start with a very small amount of water to almost make a paste. Then you can add a lot more water to mix evenly.

Tasty, cost effective vegan protein - good for omnivores who are avoiding carbohydrates
As an unapologetic omnivore, I purchased NutriBiotic Rice protein merely to diversify my protein sources. After consuming whey and soy protein in different forms for years, I was happy to add this Rice protein to my diet as it is both tasty and cost effective. Taste is obviously a personal matter but I can say Nutribiotic Rice Protein tastes better than Cytosport whey protein. This could be due to Cytosport fatigue on my end. Whatever the reason, the added diversity is nice. I find this product nice to mix with milk or Kashi GoLean cereal. Like most supplements, it isn't always easy to mix. Unlike whey protein, however, the powder is extremely fine so particulates inevitably end up in your nostrils -- even after mixing with a fluid. One good way to compare protein sources is to determine the cost per gram of protein. In this metric, the best product I can currently obtain is Cytosport whey protein at Costco for 2.2 cents per gram in large 6 pound bags. By comparison, this Rice protein is only 2.7 cents per gram in a more manageable one pound container. Either product is a fraction of the price of lean meats or cheeses. Unlike other vegan protein sources, this protein only contains 2 grams of carbs for every 12 grams of protein. By comparison, Manitoba Harvest Hemp protein contains 17 grams of carbs for every 8 grams of protein. Moreover, it is roughly four times (4x) expensive per gram of protein as this rice protein. Given the nice mix of taste, convenient product quantity and pricing, this rice protein is worthy of any high protein diet - vegan or otherwise. Pros Cost effective Tasty Vegan for those who need it Few carbs Cons Extremely fine powder can be hard to mix and is easily dispersed
