The Miseducation of Henry Cane [Brooks, Charles] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Miseducation of Henry Cane Review: Loved it! - I initially decided to read it because it's a "Younger/Empirical Press" book. However, it stood on its own. I loved Henry's character and even though it was centered in probably the 90s and had some older mentions of "Baywatch posters" it didn't feel old it had character from our world today. Quick read, easy read. Lots of smiles. Review: A Beach Read - Vacation day 2 -- book 1 done before even hitting the beach. I binged on "Younger" last summer because I have a friend involved in the show and wanted to be supportive. And I loved it. I especially love the fact that several of the books they publish on the show are actually written and published in real life. So meta. This is one of those books. A full on beach read, and about a summer at the beach, it's a coming of age novel. The main character Henry Cane is about to start the next chapter in a life that is set for him -- schools, job at the family company and so on. The summer before he is set to start his career, he decides to masquerade as Joe, work as a fisherman, and take up with an older woman. Complications ensue, relationships grow and it all comes crumbling down with a surprisingly satisfying ending. There are some steamy bits and a lot of details about the 1 percenters, but I appreciate this simply for what it is -- a romp through youth gone by in a posh beach setting. Vacation perfection. Thank you Charles Brooks.

Easy summer read!
I have never read a book so fast in my life. I love younger and was super disappointed in Marriage Vacation, so I was skeptical about this book. It was such an easy read, I could not put it down. It is so easy to picture the characters and to get in Henry's mind. One of the best books I've read in a long time!

Good book
I really liked this book. If you like younger, you probably will like it too! It is a story about Charles when he was in his early 20s.

A Fun Beach Read
Now that he has said goodbye to his ex-girlfriend Henry is Hamptons bound for the next eight weeks before starting his new job at his father's Manhattan based publishing company. Bored with the same scene year after year Henry decides to do something spontaneous and applies for work on a fishing boat under a different name. After a chance encounter, "Joe" finds himself entangled in an affair and his double-life becomes increasingly more difficult to maintain by the day. The complicated web he thought would be fun to weave for the summer could disrupt everything he has planned for his future and cause ripples he couldn't have predicted. For fans of the show "Younger" you will be familiar with this book that has been ghostwritten by author Charles Brooks. Though the book does have a tie-in to the show, I have never seen a single episode and had no trouble getting into the story. "The Miseducation of Henry Cane" is a quick, light (and sometimes steamy) read that would be a good companion on a future beach day.

Very disappointed
I bought this book because I loved Marriage Vacation! I am a fan of the TV Land series Younger, so I was excited to read another book from the show. However, allow me to point out they only mentioned this book (unfinished manuscript) in one episode of the most recent season of the show. Now I know why. I was disappointed when I read the line on the first page that said “I’d always been terrible at making big decisions. If I’m being honest I was used to women making all my decisions for me.” I realize now that statement sets up Henry's character in a big way. He is a boring character who is lead around by everyone else in the book. His initial meeting of Elisabetta and her seductive ways (which to me seemed more predatory than seductive) made me sick to my stomach. I thought the story line of Henry becoming Joe was where the real story was at and would have liked if the author would’ve explored that more and made that the focus of the book instead of the dysfunctional relationship between Henry and Elisabetta. Sorry, but I can’t recommend this book.

Comprato perche amo la serie tv. Le aspettative non erano troppo alte e quindi non sono rimasta delusa. come il primo libro dalla serie ha la storia un pó piatta, ma carina, giusto per leggerlo sulla spiaggia.
