NTSC / Region 0 Korean import. Optional Korean subtitles can be turned off from the main menu. Please note this DVD does not have English subtitles. David and Sarah travel with a caravan from Baghdad to Damascus. At an oasis the white-slave agent “Jackal” raids them, mainly to add the beautiful young Sarah to his harem. Only David and Sarah can flee, all the others are killed. Their flight leads them to a beautiful oasis (their paradise) where they discover love and sex, however the jackal has not given up on Sarah yet. Review: Great movie, and in English - OK, some reviewers have said some things that are untrue. First, the main language is English, and if you are fluent in English you'll have no trouble understanding. The subtitles are in English and Chinese, no Japanese in sight. Second, it DOES have a menu system and will take you right to the shower scene, if that's what you want. Third, the Theme Song at the end, though not as long as the single, sounds exactly the same to me as the 2014 remaster by Phoebe Cates (51 then). Apparently a 17 year old Phoebe sang the Theme song for the original theatrical release in 1982, that was then replaced with the song sung by an adult for the 1994 video-tape release (which is how I first discovered it). If you have Alexa or Prime Music, you can find Phoebe's 2014 remaster, which sounds nothing like her voice in the film. Unless they fudged with her voice, if everything I just retold is true, there must be at least two other versions floating around the Internet somewhere. Great survival / coming of age story. Two young strangers, Sarah and David, are crossing the desert with their custodians, which is attacked by a local Bedouin Prince who plans to force the girl to "marry" him. The two escape, but the rest of their caravan is murdered. The young couple find various places to hide, but the villin's lust for Sarah continually pushes him to keep trying to find them. During their adventures escaping death and rape, the two fall in love. Eventually a showdown becomes unavoidable. Can love win over all? Will they ever be able to find a lasting paradise? Will they be captured? Or worse? Review: A nice, adult fairy tale - Before the Middle East blew up into a major war zone, this movie was a very nice adult fairy tale. No Academy Award, but entertaining nonetheless. Phoebe is one of the most beautiful women on the planet, and does a better job here than in Fast Times. The plot is predictable, typical 80s dream. Still, between this and Blue Lagoon, it satisfies many a teenage fantasy. Yes, the expected touch of tasteful nudity and wet, clingy garments, but a gentle story of old-fashioned gentility mixed with some action, and the scenery is lovely. A nice afternoon's or evening's flick.

Amazing movie
Amazing movie just be aware of the version that you are getting many different ones. Depending on the country that it is coming from the one I got was from Korea english. Audio and Korean subtitles was able to turn off subtitles with the different versions. There is one scene where his crotch may or may not be blurred out.

All About Phoebe
This movie was released in 1982, the same year Ms. Cates did her famous swimming pool dream-scene in Fast Times At Ridgemont High. It was actually being shown in drive-In theaters at that time; do you older folks remember them? The premise is that Willie Ames rescues the oh so beautiful and nubile Phoebe from an evil murdering desert marauder that intends to add her to his harem. The comparison to The Blue Lagoon which was released two years earlier is obvious. Two young beautiful people discover love and each other's bodies in an oasis while running from dangerous people. This was Phoebe's acting debut at age 19. Willie had a much more thorough resume as he started out as a child actor in 1971. Production values for the DVD are what you would expect for something that dated. This import is Korean in origin and uses Korean subtitles which you can turn off but English is spoken in the movie. It won't look good on large HDTV/4K screens common today. I watched it on my computer. Is it worth the money? Well Phoebe shows a lot more skin than Brooke did in Blue Lagoon...a lot more. Phoebe is a beautiful woman and isn't afraid to show it. I thought it was tastefully done given the premise. If your into that genre of movie and like to see young beautiful people running around and swimming in their birthday suits, you'll like this move but don't expect too much. The plot is oh-so predictable.

Phoebe!!!!!!
I love Phoebe Cates. How can you not??? I know that anyone reading these reviews is a Phoebe Cates fan. I have no idea why else you would be interested in this movie. Phoebe aside this movie is utterly wretched. I still have to give 5 stars though. No matter how bad a movie is, if Phoebe is in it, it deserves 5 stars in my opinion. Without Phoebe this would be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Aames was so lucky to have this experience twenty years ago. I hate him for it! I have no idea how he got this role. His acting ability is about equal to that of a ham sandwhich. Down to what this movie is all about though, Phoebe. I believe she was 17 in this movie. It's too bad that the curse of aging has to take it's toll on Phoebe Cates and slowly rob us of a true angel on earth. It would be great if she could stay like she was in this movie forever! She was so cute and absolutely adorable ( & still is really...watch "The Anniversary Party" which was released in 2001; she's definetly the hottest 37 year old woman on the planet). She's one in a BILLION. It shows her naked quiet a few times in this movie. I know that's what you're waiting to hear. Phoebe is incredible, inside and out. Phoebe's flawless face and breathtaking smile. Phoebe's gorgeous body. She is one of the most beautiful girls to EVER live. No one is perfect, but can anyone really come closer than Phoebe does... We love you Phoebe.

PHOEBE CATES IS SEXY AS HELL IN THIS ONE....
Phoebe cates is the reason I purchased this movie from amazon and I got my moneys worth, the plot is interesting as well, sad in the begining, some times cute and sometimes funny. Phoebe cates character (sara) is sexy but in a naive and innocent way, she discover that she's developing into womanhood, and finds a lost medical book on body parts and gets curious with willie ames character( david ) in the middle of the movie in the begining she's innocent and shy to david until tragedy strikes and the arabs kills his parents and then she opens up and encourage him to run with her and her guardian who they later kill while they were vactioning . So they end up stuck with each other trying to flee from the arab slavers , which who are really after her because of her lustful beauty. After being chased by the arabs from deserts to islands david has had enough and decide to take a stand to protect sara from abduction. Phoebe does alot of nude scenes which makes this romance+action+coming of age thriller worth your money, sadly I don't think she got the recognition of halle berry, angela jolie, lucy liu or sofia vergara ,and in her prime she was just as beautiful or prettier and she's just as talented, she sang the theme song to " paradiise", she sounds great. Phoebe's an overlooked gem. I highly recommend this movie especially if you're a P.C. Fan it's one of her best....

Interesting on its own
I am feeling generous, and giving it perhaps more stars than it deserved. It certainly was not Oscar material, but it also is not a simple rip off the the Blue Lagoon. One of the first things one has to do is reject geography. Where they find their oases in relation to where they got into problems is not rational, as some of them are clearly ocean related. Some of the dialogue is atrocious, but then they are supposed to be quite young, so perhaps they might have said that. And it is based out of Baghdad in the early 19th Century. As far as a comparison to Blue Lagoon, the problems they face and the perils they have to overcome are far greater than in that movie. They are not suddenly put in the middle of a tropical paradise. And the dangers continue from the "Jackal". Phoebe Cates, who is actually not a minor when the film was made, plays a stronger role, and the scenes of sensuality are at a much higher level than in the Blue Lagoon, and perhaps more reasonable. And for those really concerned, there is a fair amount of female nudity. It is too bad there is no background information or soundtracks for this film, as there are things that would be interesting to know about behind the scenes. In Blue Lagoon, a body double (who was actually in her 30's) did many of the nude scenes. Were those nude scenes of Phoebe Cates or a body double? Whatever, they are done tastefully, and not unlike what could have actually happened in a situation like they supposedly were in.

A Classic from the 1980s
This is a classic movie featured in a Classic DVD Collection. During the 1980s Willie Aames and Phoebe Cates were in the Zenith of their acting careers, and the perfect duo for a Desert Drama. Sarah and David are traveling with their Guardians across the desert. A Bedouin Chief is determined to kidnap Sarah and marry her. In the military I served in the Middle East during the 1980s, and "Paradise" included several cultural features similar to my experiences of exposure to the populations in daily living. 5 Gold Stars are worthy for "Paradise" as Western young love vs. Eastern life with a hint of fantasy.

Strictly for Phoebe fans
Blue Lagoon ripoff and not the greatest movie, but if you are a fan of Phoebe Cates then it is a must have.

Man sieht alles.

99.9% of People Will Buy This for Phoebe Cates
If you're like me, you remember this from VHS tapes and old Pay Television showings from the 80's. It's a second rate "Blue Lagoon" rip-off but with a much sexier female lead: Phoebe Cates! Cates was a huge fave of male teens of the time, myself included, mainly for her famous pool scene from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". "Paradise" is actually a decent watch in terms of entertainment if a bit sill overall. I wouldn't think too many people expect much coming into a film like this, so it's actually surprisingly enjoyable in parts. It's a fond trip back to the 80's and anyone wishing to see a young Phoebe Cates frolic around in skimpy outfits/nude won't be disappointed.
