This bed fits both of those bills. It’s an easy zip on zip off cover. I won’t speak to waterproof ness, that’s not why we got it, I just wanted to be able to easily clean it after taking it outside and you definitely can.That said, the shredded memory foam in this is AWESOME. Our dog is 34 pounds and it’s about the perfect amount of squish for her. We got her a bed with a solid 4” thick piece of foam in it before, and while she definitely doesn’t hit the bottom In that one I also feel like it’s a little TOO much support, in that it’s stiffer than she likes. This one squished and decent amount but because it’s nice quality memory foam shreds (not cheap poly fill) it’s not flattening. It squished right back when she gets up.She normally prefers a bed that has cozy sides because likes to sleep in a ball up against edges, but she has taken to sleeping on this one in the day time too, sometimes instead of the couch even (her favorite thing).Honestly wish this also came in a version that had the same memory foam shred mattress but with cuddler walls around it. I am considering buying a second one to take out the block foam in her normal nighttime bed and put the mattress from this one in there she has the best of both worlds.My *only* complaint is that if she licks the bed a little around her paws it definitely shows a dark wet spot until it dries (this is the light grey color). Yes! Dog loves it because it's cushy and comfy. I love it because my house doesn't smell like dog. I chose the medium size so Beagle can stretch out and watch her favorite tv shows and she was so pleased with it, she asked that I order another for her crate. The medium is a snug fit for the crate but works great. The thickness of the cushion has certainly made a difference in how she's able to get up after lying for a long period of time. Again, and most importantly, I can keep it clean. The cover can be easily vacuumed and unzipped for washing. Pet owner tip: Walgreens sells hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle that you can use to spray the foam interior--or anything for that matter--and it will invariably remove any pet smell. Urine, poop, nondescript pet stink, whatever. Seriously, it's the best kept secret. Doesn't discolor. Doesn't just cover up. Anyway, spray the foam bed, and by the time the cover comes out of the dryer, you won't even remember you have a teenager. I mean a dog. Who's bath time is the responsibility of your 17 year-old. Who's like having a second dog. Don't judge me. Kids are hard.Update: 2+ years and the bed inserts are still fluffy and the washable cover is still fully functioning. I expected the zipper to retire itself at some point, but no. I'm utterly impressed with this product. I have two of these beds. Both covers have been washed at least once a week for over two years. No seam tears, no fraying at the zipper. On another note, said teenager discussed in my original review, who is now 19 and a college sophomore was just home for break. I have another dog bed for my 4 year old border collie, and I was so impressed with this bed that I'm buying him one to match. This bed is very supportive, washes well, it's easy to get the cover back on, and I like that it has two sides for the dog's comfort. That said, the new dog wants to claw at and bite at the "cool" side. This side of the fabric will easily shred, as it's thinner material. ANY fabric is going to shred if a dog chews at it, common sense really, so you simply have to train the dog against those destructive behaviors. I got on her about it before any tears occurred, and I have noticed that she prefers the plush side, so that's the side I keep up for her. The puppy is no longer abusing her bed and actually loves going to it for a nap. I like that the inside is packed shredded foam, because the bed can be fluffed easily and has the perfect amount of fill to keep the bed firm enough, with a gentle crown across the middle. Our older dog bed is memory foam, and it compressed fairly easily under a 35 pound dog. This bed is attractive and of very good quality, but it is not indestructible (but neither are furniture, upholstery, carpet, slippers, dog toys).
