Kohler Verdera 40 in. x 30 in. Recessed or Surface Mount Lighted Medicine Cabinet with Mirror

This Kohler lighted medicine chest replaces the standard mirror + vanity light + medicine chest set. It is really convenient to see my lotions, serums and other products at eye level instead of tucked into low cabinets. The shelves are deep enough for medium sized jars but not so deep that things get lost and buried behind each other. The wall is weight-bearing so I mounted it on the surface. The mirror kit for the sides works well. The lights are on a dimmer switch. Along with a couple of recessed canned lights nearby, there is a good level of lighting for application of make-up. I used a 40" wide Verdera on the wider "her" side vanity and the 32" version for the shorter "his" side. I like that it's different than the traditional boring mirror and vanity light set-up I've seen all of my life.

Update: All is well. the mirrored cabinets were installed and Kohler sent a new door to replace the old one. Both arrived broken. Then they sent me a whole new cabinet because of the trouble but mainly because "it's packed much better". I'd had the glass replaced in the mounted cabinet and now have one new to sell. I love them and rated the buy with four stars because of the poor ship packaging. So I left closed until the contractor was ready to install. When opened the inside glass was shattered. Between the "intelligent" toilet and the mirror cab, I got three broken toilets and one broken cabinet. Really Kohler, is this the best you can pack for shipping? After spending almost twenty grand on Kohler fixturing I don't feel like I got a luxury experience in the least. Very disappointed in you.

We thought we were upgrading our new bathroom with a fancy new mirror. TERRIBLE MISTAKE. The lights a so blinding and they are 3000k which is YELLOW. This product will change the whole color of your new bathroom in the worst way. Now we are trying to adjust all other lights to try to match the yellow strips in this mirror. If you do buy this, you MUST put the mirror on its own dimmer otherwise you are stuck dimming the whole bathroom and the mirror MUST have a dimmer to make it usable (did I mention the lights are BLINDING?). I have no idea what Kohler was thinking with this product. I wish I could return it but our contractor tossed all of the packaging. DO NOT BUY THIS.

These Kohler mirrors are awesome! We installed them sunk into the wall. They look amazing. The only reason I am not very happy is a problem on our side of the purchase. No one read the instructions until time to install. 1. Make sure the plug is wired to a GFI plug. 2. The lights need a separate switch. I guess our electrical plan only had lights run behind the mirror and not a separate plug. We cant use the plug, as it would only work when the lights are turned on and also not a GFI. Dissapointing, wish we would have known.

Bought this for a bathroom install and it's exactly what I was looking for. Lots of storage inside, built in dimmable lighting, and looks really stylish in the new bathroom. I surface mounted the unit (too many pipes behind the wall) and it looks great. I did buy 2 matching side mirror accessories that cover sides during surface mount It is pretty heavy, so good to have 2 people for install. Definitely needs stud mount if not recessed. Highly recommend.

So we loved it until the light stopped working :( had to replace One side for 350 $$ and crucial part ( connection) had now been changed and wasn't shipped w/ Mirror:(... Spoke to KOHLER and The Connection is being Produced and will be shipped when in Stock😩Still waiting... not happy

This cabinet is amazing and perfect but one star down because of the lighting. My bathroom is small about 12'x10' with shower, toilet, vanity and mirror above the sink. The medicine cabinet is nice and deep with power and adjustable shelves. I was able to put my tall electric toothbrush in there including the charger and ALL of my precripts, supplements, deodorants, tums, and you name it in there. We did a wall mount which required a special wall mount accessory (easily found on Amazon) which makes it mirrored all around, kind of cool. Our installer was more of a handyman, but he was able to install and wire it up correctly, and install the wall mount accessory sides. The closeup mirror inside is pretty good, but I've had it slide to the bottom once in a while when I need it. The most surprising disappointing thing is the mirror lights. Seems like a good idea, and we hooked them up to an adjustable light switch, but when I have them on anything more that minimum brightness, they create a lot of glare. On minimum, they are a nice night light, but any higher and the glare is high. Maybe its my glasses. Not sure, but you will need additional lighting.

To be honest - after looking at the promotion and videos, this product is EXACTLY as advertised. HOWEVER I purchased the non-lighted version for another unit - installing overhead task lighting (making the costs comparable) and I'm much happier with the overall result - especially when you want to use the interior mirrors for side and back views of your hair. My bathroom seems well lit when the doors are closed, but underlit when the doors are open. Also: the make-up mirror doesn't stay where I put it - it just slides down to the lowermost position. In summation - product is as advertised but I wish I'd gone a different way. I was seduced by the sleek look and brand name - I expect that at the price point and with the brand name, these details should be something that are built into the product (as a previous user noted, cheaper competitors also come with defogger built in - seems like a no-brainer). I expect to be DELIGHTED spending 1400 for the brand model - not to find 5 things I don't like about it the moment I open the door. Update: 9/13/04 - The electric connections to the larger (right) hand outer light have been flickering for months - I've tried to unscrew and tighten connections until finally, the light isn't working at all. Customer service through the KOHLER website is sending help - no questions asked and no charge after almost 18 months - so, good for them. :) Still leaving the rating at 3 because the interior darkness problem is something I think about EVERY time I open the cabinet.
