Shure A58WS-BLK Foam Windscreen for All Shure Ball Type Microphones, Black

Snug fit. Used it to replace a third party wind screen that's been in use for a very long time. These official Shure wind screens are better quality and slightly thicker around the area you normally speak/sing into, which will help to protect the mic long term. Just a quick note for anyone expecting this to completely stop plosives, it won't! It's designed to reduce wind noise when recording outside! If you want to stop plosives then either position your mic so you're not gushing air directly into it or buy a pop filter and move away from the mic a little bit.

Works well, fits well, no difference to. audio quality. Worth buying the right windscreen to properly fit your mic. I use this on Shure SM58 cardioid vocal mics and they work very well. I recommend buying the Shure brand original windscreen.

I bought the A58WS-BLK with more of a mind to complete the package of my Shure beta 58A, with which I record audiobooks, than to address any issues, since the beta 58A has ample enough of a pop-shield to deal with any plosives, etc. Although there is no remarkable difference to observe between the spectrum plots for "with and without" the A58WS, I have the "impression" that the recorded sound is smoother and less pronounced for the "P" sounds that emanate from my lips, when reading words such as: propose, plan, perhaps, etc. In place, the A58WS looks good and is a neat fit.

Wish it was purple!! Otherwise good piece of kit.

It's a piece of foam that does exactly what you'd expect. No sign of foam breakdown or 'bobbling' yet.Bonus points for being blue, and extra bonus points for being cheaper than some other colours.

Not much to go wrong really but it’s strong and snug fitting

As you can see from the photo the grey foam was superior to the black foam and as a professional singer this made a huge difference not just to the aesthetics of the item but also the quality. The grey foam is excellent at preventing plosives. The black one would let a fart through at a 100 yards. I was really disappointed needless to say when I ordered the black one to replace the grey as the grey was looking a bit shabby. Now I've ordered else where. For both colours the base of the grill is open too which doesn't appear to change the audio quality but does effect the aesthetics. I've bought from another seller now as it wasnt possible to get it in black wothout compromising sound quality.
