This has been field tested by a Marine in 25* weather.
I was hesitant to buy this because of the random reviews on here that did not help at all. Purchased the Recon 5 because I’m absolutely sick of the cold weather drills, and I rate. Busted this thing out for drill back in December and it was approximately 25 degrees out. The bag is sturdy and seems like it will be very durable. This bag was clearly designed to stand up to the abuse of military use where other bags will fall apart rather quickly. The zipper is very durable, just like those on issued military bags. The bag was insanely warm. The rating listed for the Recon 5 are accurate. If you are sleeping in an area where the temp isn't that low then you will end up sleeping with the zipper all the way open or use this as a blanket so you don’t get too hot. In 25* weather with an issued ISO mat this bag kept me COZY. Not okay, not good enough, COZY. We ended up spending the last night of drill in a building that was approx 40* and I couldn’t even zip this thing, it was too warm. If I had to nitpick, the only down sides are that it’s a little pricey (well worth the money) and that it’s a touch bulkier than an issued bag (who really cares?)

Rating wrong. Not warm at 38F
The rating on this bag is -4 degrees F (-20C) and I froze in high 30's even while fully clothed in bag. Rating on this bag should be 40 deg F. Back of bag and hood have very little insulation. Only thing good about this bag are the high quality zipper and top entry.

Recon 5 is a must have
I'll be honest and say I've not yet used this sleeping bag but the quality and compactness is excellent. I keep this in the car trunk just in case for the upcoming winter.

Do not recommend
I was extremely disappointed with this product. It is advertised for negative 4゚and I can assure you at 20゚it was still very very cold. I do not recommend.

Awesome sleeping bag
Center zip a must, internal bagel and exterior rain cover on said zipper. Extra protection in the feet, plenty of room for 5'10" 220lb male. Used on top of an arctarus insulated tarp, and was perfectly fine in the new mexico mountain desert nights, 10f-20f, with some run of the mill pants and a cheap tee shirt. Getting another for my wife. Got lucky with the coyote color.
