Can it be connected before?** A: Hi, you can connect Smappee wherever physically possible, as long as the wires carry all the electricity of your home. Make sure to never touch any metal parts. Our pool subpanel is about 100 feet away from the main breakers on a 100amp circuit.** A: NO. The only thing this is good for is showing total usage for our house. However, anything more complicated then a set of lights turning on and off it will not detect. Here is a list of things the Smappee has not been able to detect: Refrigerator, lights on dimmers, AC, heat pump, furnace blower, dryer, washer machine, dish washer, TV, Cable box, Electric car charger, Heat pump water heater (tank), Computer, etc. You get the idea. My experience is that the Smappee can only detect things that are simple on/off loads. However, even then it has issues if it is a pump or compressor because there is a different load at start-up. I am extremely disapointed with this product. **Q: I have 2x200A panels conected in parallel to the utility meter so I need 4 clamps to measure everything. Is this possible with smappee ?** A: Hi, Sure. You can use the Y-Cable (see accessories) to connect the measurements of 2 current clamps. You would connect 2 CTs to a Y-cable and connect them to the 2 panels. Do the same with the other pair.
