I've had it for years now, and carried it around pinned to a bag, and it still looks like it's in great condition. Multiple and quality pin backs insures that it lays perfectly, and also is less likely to unpin and get lost.There are some scratches on the pin, under the clear protective enamel. This initially annoyed me, but they are actually screen accurate to Spock's pin in the new Star Trek movies.His bears the exact same scratches. I was really impressed with this detail. If you are using it for a different science officer, such as Bones, this could be a concern. However, they don't stand out much and are only really noticeable on close inspection.This is a great prop, for a very reasonable price. But beware! This is the badge for the REBOOT universe, JJ's movies. This does not match the badge in The Original Series, as TOS's is actually gold and is actually connected to their uniform- not a pin.Of course, I just wanted a badge that would be removable so that I could wear it on a bunch of different shirts, so I ordered this one. It's a nice pin, sturdy, and it looks like the real thing. If you're going for a quick fix for a Reboot costume, this is great for the price. If you want to throwback to TOS days, you would want to look for something else to be authentic.Don't think I'm bashing this; I knew what I was buying when I bought it, and I still love it.
