We experience an exceptional 18 hours of daylight, with little dips of twilight in the early hours of the morning during mid-summer. Being at the very top of Scotland, the islands are not blessed with the warmest weather - but that makes for very fertile, green land, and an abundance of fresh botanicals ready to be collected. Johnsmas captures all the magic of Orkney's summer, and the enjoyment we have for our history and folklore. Summer has traditionally been enjoyed with drinks and dancing, and bonfires representing the ever glowing sun. At Orkney Gin Company, we enjoy telling you the tales of the islands and showing you a little of our history through our gin - and the botanicals in our gin (which have been written about in recipes and notes for hundreds of years). We hand-pick our heather flowers, rose petals, and grow our own mint at home in our garden. These three botanicals form the basis of our Johnsmas Gin, with only the best oranges - (Seville) used to create a marmalade tanginess.
