Fountain Pen, Preppy, Fine Nib, Violet (1716282.0)

This has the look of a lower end pen, but performs surprisingly well. In terms of how it writes, it’s a good example of the finer nibbed Japanese pens. The fun part is the cartridge that comes in the pen matches the color of the pen, so this one came with a purple cartridge. Now the cartridges are proprietary, so you will need to do one of three things: 1- Pick up more cartridges. Amazon has an amazing variety of them, including more of the purple. The two-packs are a bit pricey by cartridge standards, but the ten packs (sadly, no purple there) are about average. At the time of this writing both were the same price. Unfortunately, it looks like the 10 pack doesn’t come in purple. 2- Pick up a converter. Amazon carries that as well. Those are a little expensive out the gate (they cost more than the pen) but cheaper in the long run. And they give you a much wider variety of ink options. 3- Refill the cartridge using a pen syringe. Again, Amazon has that. I’d be careful to check the reviews and get one that doesn’t “stick” (Wikult is good). When in doubt, just refill in the sink so you won’t have a mess. This gives you all the advantages of the converter, but it’s cheaper and pulls in more ink. The downside is that injecting your pen looks a little like a little mad scientist. Aesthetics definitely take a back seat to functionality in this pen. You get the size of the nib printed right on the barrel. You can see the amount of ink left right through the barrel. It’s an extremely comfortable pen for a long writing or drawing session. This lays a great line. No skipping. No leaking. No problems. If you want to try the Japanese-style nibs, and don’t want to invest in an expensive pen to start, this is an excellent first pen. You’ll get the full experience of the nib at a tiny fraction of the cost.

Obviously, for the price, it’s gonna look a certain way. While it’s certainly not expensive looking, I do find it aesthetically pleasing. More importantly, performance… no complaints. It’s extremely smooth & considering the fine tip, not really scratchy. However, I’m left handed & Idk if this is the reason but I find myself fidgeting w/ the angle to keep ink going. Speaking of ink, the best part is the beautiful ink color! Am pleased that cartridges r cheap & readily available. (Altho, I’m eyeing the highly rated platinum converter so I can get into crazy inks…)

Don't let the price point fool you into thinking this is a cheap fountain pen. This is a very high quality pen with amazing design that has lasted through the years. Stock ink is great, and the pen cartridge can later be refilled with a syringe for custom colors. The nib is amazingly durable to survive being in a school setting where it's been dropped nib first a few times. Platinum's quality control is such that the nib writes amazingly smoothly right out of the box without requiring any tuning.

Platinum pens have a long history and can be refilled so you don’t have to keep replacing the pen. The refills are at least 5 in each box so you can keep on writing without stopping and buying another pen

It was a good starter pen for my sisters. It was a good price ink flow was good.

…And by horrible, I mean there was no packaging at all. In fact, the pen had been tossed in the box my other goods came in and was in two pieces, just rattling around in the bottom. I’m surprised the plastic casing wasn’t cracked. Guess I lucked out. The pen itself is a winner. I’ve used Preppy Fountain Pens for years and they’ve never disappointed.

Ich hätte nicht erwartet, für den günstigen Preis einen so tollen Füller zu bekommen! Er schreibt butterweich und liegt gut in der Hand. Für Urban Sketching verwende ich gerne pigmentierte Tinte zum Zeichnen. In allen meinen bisherigen Füllern ist schon nach wenigen Tagen alles verklebt und es geht nichts mehr. Doch hier nicht. Ich hab mir jetzt alle Stärken gekauft und alle schreiben auch noch nach Wochen! Das hab ich in dem Preissegment noch nicht erlebt. Ich verwende die Carbon Ink von Platinum und bin mehr als zufrieden damit. 10 Sterne für diese Füller!

I like it! Use it everyday

Pinta muy, bien, solo esperaba que la punta fuera un poco más fina. Pero de ahí en fuera sí me gusta! Le doy 5 porque me gusta, pero consideren que no pinta tan fino.

Génial pour mon encre waterproof qui m'a flingué mon stylo Lamy Safary. L'encre ne sèche pas du tout même après plusieurs semaines. En plus l'écriture est douce et fluide.

Muy bonito color de la tinta y la pluma va muy bien, sobre todo, teniendo en cuenta su precio. Punta fina que se desliza perfectamente por el papel y no rasca nada. Flujo de tinta perfecto. El color violeta es precioso, seguro que compro más.
