5PC M2HSS Combined Center Drills Countersinks 60 Degree Angle Bit Set

I am an engineer in a machine shop where I provide some of my own tools I bought these to speed up my pace of work. I like them, they seem to be plenty sharp and if I don't crash one into the workpiece, they don't break! Under normal, non-crashing use, they work well. I've only broken one-LOL

I bought these for drilling brass stock, so don't know how they perform on steel yet. These are very nice bits and are indeed HSS stock. I showed these to a relative who is a machinist and he was impressed and commented on their quality. Don't think you can go wrong for the price of this set of center drills.

Excellent product for the money. They work well, and appear to be made from real HSS. They cut very well in mild steel, I've processed several holes with the number 3 drill with no measurable loss in sharpness. If you use them at the correct feed and speed rates and they should provide long service life.

They're completely useless for use on a lathe. They're not sharp at all, and can't even cut simple aluminum 6061. You might be able to get away with center drilling materials like wood or plastic, but if you want to do any kind of metalwork, look elsewhere.

These are a just have for any DIYer. Quality product.

I've only tried to use 3 of these center drills on aluminium bar stock but so far, I'm not impressed. They're not ground right on the cutting tip. They just rub the material instead of cutting. I did find one end of the 3rd largest one that cut if I bared down on the handle of the drill press, but that shouldn't be. The tips can be sharpened to a better cutting angle & they would be fine, but I don't have the means of doing the accurate type of grinding they need.
