1403 Performer Carburetor

Perfect replacement for the old many-times-rebuilt Carter AFB on my 1966 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S w/ 273CID Commando V8. Bolted right on, fired right up, only needed idle mixture, idle speed & fast idle speed adjustment. Purrs like a kitten at idle (a very large kitten :). Throttle response is excellent, very smooth, no lag when I get on it, couldn't be better. Right out of the box -- hard to believe no further tuning is required! Looks a lot like the old AFB (I've heard that it is an improved version of that carb) but the old AFB never felt this good.Another reviewer complained about the floats not being set correctly, I didn't take it apart to check but it runs fine. Another reviewer said it was made in Mexico, mine says "Made in USA" and the quality is excellent. I couldn't be happier! Only Made in USA parts go on my Made in USA '66.NOTE: It's very important to replace fuel filter when you install the new carb, when the old filter is disturbed dirt will enter your new carb, very bad!

I put this on a ford better than stock...but mild build 390 Fe in a F250 4x4. Its on a edelbrock performer manifolld. Has headers. I used it to replace an edelbrock 1406 that was just always rich, boggy, and rich smelling exhaust. I put alot of effort into making the 1406 work (it was new out of the box as well). Always seemed like the wrong carb for my engine. Just happy with this new carb. Seems to pull hard until 5000 rpm. I have an AFR guage installed...carb keeps a steady 13.8 to 14.5 under normal circumstances. Definitely recommend for daily drivers and work trucks like mine.

IM using this on a 1975 jeep wagoneer with amc 360 v8. It’s bolted to an edelbrock 2131 manifold and it ran pretty awesome out of the box. This carburetor is on the smaller side of the spectrum of what edelbrock recommends for my motor; but I️ chose it As I️ will rarely be getting into the secondaries and wanted economy for city driving. That being said; I️ feel like this carb is sized almost perfectly for my rig. There are no flat spots and I️ cannot tell that it is leaning out even under heavy load on the freeway! I’ll be installing an off-road needle and seat kit and had to use an edelbrock 9266 heat insulator as I️ was having some hard-restarting after the truck was warmed up and shut down. This is common and has nothing to do with the carburetors construction or design. It’s a Really nice piece and I️ have not felt the need to do any further tuning!

Bolted it on, adjusted the air fuel mixture, and it has been running great!

Installed on my 1987 El Camino It has never run so good all I had to do was adjust the Idle.

Near doubled the HP on my 1978 F-150. Application was on a 4.9 litre (300 ci) straight six. The truck had the OEM stock log manifolds with a Carter YF 1 bbl carburetor. Very, very happy with the performance upgrade. My mileage has improved as well now that I can actually shift into 4th gear before 50 mph!
