"4 ozs. not leakproof? Is that when the dispensing top is on?

The flip top lids are not leakproof on airlines. Even in carry-on luggage keep the regular lid on until you reach your destination then replace it with the flip top. I'm overly cautious and place them individually in a snack size ziplock bag to avoid any possibility of a mess in my toiletry bag .

According to the Nalgene website, these bottles are BPA free.

Are any of these bottles good for contact solution?

It will hold the solution fine, but it won't dispense it one drop at a time. Nalgene sells a dropper - search for "Nalgene drop bottle" that works well for eye drops.

Has anyone has any issues with TSA not allowing them to carry-on the "medium" size pack of containers?

YES I have had to toss 4 oz. bottles before. It's disappointing that a "travel" pack doesn't sell products of 100 ml (~3.2oz).
