So glad I found this!
These are a must have for confirmat screws. Work super well. So far so good. Have only used about 20 times so far and currently still sharp. Might get another for backup since I bought a boat load of screws as well.

Worked great
This worked perfectly for some melamine shelves I built.

Expensive, probably worth it.
A special tool for a special fastener. The screws only work correctly in a properly sized and shaped hole, so you pretty much need this cutter to make them quickly and in one step. Worked great for me in both particleboard and plywood. Expensive, (to me) but it is well made, and looks like it will last a long time.

Importance on using these screws
These screws were the answer when working with melamine that can chip and crack easily.

Works fine with the confirmat screw
For the price, this is an excellent bit. You do have to pull the bit in and out as it is rotating in order to clean out saw dust it creates, not a hardship, but not as smooth as a carbide one piece bit at 3x's the cost. I think this is an excellent route to take for cabinet assembly and I would suggest that during assembly the screws shouldn't be ultimately snugged up until the cabinet is squared up by attaching the back. I am impressed with the confirmat fastening system and the total lack of splitting end grain. For example I built some pullouts and needed to attach 12mm baltic birch ply wood at right angles to each other. The confirmat system handled this need without splitting the edge of the 12mm baltic birch plywood and held fast--that was impressive.

Drills nicely through MDF/Particle board, also through fingers ;(
Built a bunch of built in bookcases using melamine coated particle board. This bit worked great for the confirmat screws. I used a long 1/8" bit first with a jig I made to get the screws in the right place and straight. After drilling with the pilot bit, this bit will follow the pilot hole making the hole straight. I tried eyeballing at first, but found that to be a bad idea when the bit went partially through my finger that was supporting the shelf board.
