Payne brings the essential elements of healing prayer ministry into focus within the context of sexual woundedness and the homosexual struggle. Case studies are effective means to show the dynamic results of prayer as well as to examine the psychological, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of the issue at hand. This is must-read material for those who struggle as well as for those who care and seek understanding. Before reading the book, I thought that "inner-healing" prayer in general, and prayer for the healing of memories in particular, were charismatic inventions with little or no clinical grounding. Paynes's material, however, was well researched and showed a surprising depth of understanding. In speaking with a secular psychologist about the premise and methods explored in this book, I found that they were cutting-edge principles in the psychiatric community. But beyond the mere clinical aspect, I must commend Payne for the faithfulness of the book to the Scriptures and the character of Christ. It is His message of hope for all who hurt that is extended in these pages so masterfully. This is the most compelling introduction I have found to the subject of inner healing prayer, and should be read by every Christian pastor, counselor, parent, and friend in the post-modern world.

I read this book 15+ years ago and then more recently. The, my eyes and heart were opened to how we can pray, ask the Father to show us where our deepest wounds are, and seek His healing. Leanne gives story after story of various people she has prayed for--mostly homosexuals--explaining how she prayed and then what happened in their lives afterwards. Inspirational for all of us who were wounded in any way and gives hope that even the deepest most troubling traumas and pains can be healed by a loving God. If you are in pain or are praying for those who are in pain, please read this book. Use the deep spiritual principles and you will be amazed at how much the heavenly Father desires for us to be well!

Leanne Payne has a lot of compassion & wisdom for dealing with wounded souls...reading this book helped God lead me in praying for people He put on my heart.. Leanne has a good understanding of the blend between human personality & spirituality. She encourages respect and dignity toward those who need help. She does not believe in trampling over people under the guise of "helping". She relies on God to minister to those who come to her for help. If you are looking for a book to help you understand and pray for yourself and others I highly recommend this book. It isn't about formulas but about understanding the freedom God desires for individuals and praying as He directs.

This book has been wonderfully and sensitively written and is an encouraging read for all those who suffer with broken identity. There is hope! How to pray and what to pray for all Christian leaders. Leanne Payne is a leader in this field and we are indebted to her.

Very scholarly. Ms. Payne haas so much experience and and has done all of the research. Well written. An excellent resource for understanding woundedness for the counselor, pastor, family member, or the friend.

I found this book very helpful in explaining homosexuality. I enjoyed her view and agreed with it. Helpful tips in the book when ministering to people.

LP has done for my soul than any other theologian. Her understanding of the fallen soul, the neurotic ways we try to salve our pain, the narcissistic ways we try to relate to others has all be liberating.

I couldn't finish this book, I was too angry at the author. Knowing someone personally who has fought this demon, it is obvious the author has no personal knowledge of the hell a person goes through upon realizing this is happening to them! I have had to go to the ER too many times due to a dear girl trying to commit suicide because she doesn't want this as her identity. Besides having to learn this about herself, she had to deal with family who turned against her for it. This is a horrific, powerful demonic oppression that a person is not strong enough to fight. I'm praying that one day, she will be able to overcome!
