Four of us took it on a weeklong backpacking trip and it was used extensively. Backpacking in the mountains, we had to tote water at least 3 times a day for simple cooking, drinking and dish washing. It never looks like the picture. The sides crumple and with the water it spreads out, but it does pretty well at not spilling over when it is sitting on the ground or on a rock. There's a nifty bottom strap handle that we discovered was nice for reaching into the lake and also for turning it upside-down. It wasn't too heavy for packing, though I wouldn't want it any heavier for that purpose.
