THE WALKING DEAD – THE COMPLETE NINTH SEASON The last season, “All-Out War”, set Rick Grimes and his group of survivors against the Saviours and their ingenious leader, Negan. A year and a half after the war, we see our survivors rebuilding civilisation under Rick’s unwavering leadership. Over time, the community is confronted with unexpected obstacles and tensions, but nothing prepares them for the true danger which is developing without their knowledge, and which will endanger the very civilisation that our survivors have been struggling to build. It is by far my favourite TV series of all time. As the years went by, the show had its highs and lows. The first 5 seasons were phenomenal, Season 6 had its moments of greatness, but got a bit carried away with fake-out deaths and of course the infamous cliffhanger finale. First episode of Season 7 was amazing, but it started to really slow down after that, and began to feel stale. Season 8 was a bit better, but it still felt like something was off. Season 9, however, was exactly what the show needed to breathe new life back into it. Going into the season, I was very worried after hearing about the impending departure of Andrew Lincoln, who has portrayed my all-time favourite TV show character Rick Grimes since 2010. I was worried, no only about how he would be written out, but also about whether the show could even survive without him. Well, the show proved me wrong on both counts, not only did they find the perfect way for Rick to exit, but the rest of the season kept my interest, thanks to the remaining ensemble of characters that I've grown to love over the years. Notable stand outs are Norman Reedus as fan-favourite Daryl Dixon, Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier (who has had the best character development in the whole series) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan (who continues to steal the show). The introduction of new characters is also a strong point of the season, whether it be the more friendly new faces (Magna's group) or the not-so-friendly new faces (The Whisperers). I found all of them to be welcome additions to the cast. I encourage anyone who may have lost interest in the series somewhere down the line to give it another go, as I'm more excited than ever about the future of the franchise, especially with the upcoming movie trilogy.

There's Still Life Left In The Old Corpse
[spoilers ahead] With the 9th season of The Walking Dead comes a real sense of loss. Long-term fans of the show will be familiar with AMC's policy of killing off established characters, and many of us already thought that cutting Carl Grimes' life short last season was a step too far, but here we are again, and the mortality rate is as high as ever. Enid is gone. Tara is gone. Henry is gone. Jesus is gone. Actor Andrew Lincoln has also departed, due to family commitments, but the writers have left it open for Rick's return. So, too, Lauren Cohen (Maggie Rhee). Both these actors' absence from most of these episodes leaves a hole that the other characters cannot fill. It is rumoured that Ms Cohen is in negotiations with AMC to return in Season 11. It may just be a subjective impression on my part, but the whole story arc has a melancholic, if not downright depressing, feel to it. Characters have aged, the sense of loss is palpable, Negan is dispirited and figuratively toothless, and our survivors have a dangerous new enemy to face. On the plus side the writers have returned to the creepy aesthetics that made the early seasons so watchable - postapocalyptic mankind battling against terrifying odds, in a world that belongs to the dead. The Whisperers, led by the predatory Alpha, are genuinely sinister. (All Ed Gein and Dead Skin Masks!) Kudos, too, to English actress Samantha Morton, who brings to the role of Alpha a quiet intensity that serves to magnify the threat - and, wow, she has a more than passing resemblance to Brando's Colonel Kurtz, another morally bankrupt and degenerate persona of dark fiction. As a fan of the show since episode one I have stuck with it. Those with a similar loyalty would do well to buy this DVD, because this being TWD even at its worst it still surpasses every other show out there. Let's just hope the network can persuade both Lincoln and Cohen to return and, in the meantime, do a better job at writing new characters, as most of the fresh faces this season are rather unprepossessing.

Absoluetly awesome series best in a long while.
Ive watched this show right from the start and ive always loved every second and every season , with the odd dry episode here or there which were just okay but this season really stepped up , gave us the arrival of the whisperers top acting and creepy suspence of just not being sure whats a walker and whats not ,just how i imagined the comic version being live action major spoilers now is the loss of the main star rick grimes aka Andrew lincoln and Jesus Tom payne , once you get past it honest it really does hold up well still this show , i cant really say i noticed rick being gone due to all the action and the drama really pulled it off well i miss him loads but the show had to move on without him he wants to do bigger things , as for jesus that was a sour patch because he trained so hard to be awesome and fight like he did when he died but rarely did that under gimples directoring and so he decided to leave and this is where angela kang stepped it all up 100% after all that with some of the best moments so far.

Best Season Yet!!! (Apart from Season 1)
This season was great to watch it had a very good story and the characters felt real again like they were on a character arc instead of going back and forth like in season 7-8. The greater story here is also great the build-up to the whisperer war is there. The only problem I had with this was the fact that Negan was in a Jail cell for the entirety of the season however knowing that this was for the greater story I looked passed it. The Rick send off was great. Acting was also phenomenal this season. Props to the new producer of the show Angela Kang who is doing a fantastic job and it shows in the story that she cares about the characters and wants to advance the story further and to greater heights than what was envisoned. Season 10 Premiere looked great and I believe that this show still has years to go with this new producer and the excellent source material that she makes and use from the comics.
