I do most of the cooking, however, so she didn't use it very much. I found, after I figured out to use it, that this is by far the best can opener I've ever used -- even for right-handed folk like myself. I bought a second one and haven't used my old right-handed opener since -- and I don't plan to -- ever again. This opener is easier to use than the old style, it is safer, and it is less prone to spills. It is a really great product. It took us a few minutes to figure out how exactly to use it, but then we were amazed how easily the lids come off. My lefty loves that he has his very own can opener now, and that he can use his left hand to turn the knob. I’m right handed and enjoy using it just as much. I had virtually no success and asked Amazon to return it to the vendor in Germany. In response I received very German instructions to read the manual and try again. So I did.I had been trying to use it sitting at the kitchen table, with little success, and for some reason tried it standing up at a counter. It worked, and worked well. A little refinement (turn the handle counter clockwise only) and I was a happy user.Unfortunately my wife has written it off completely and now I, the right handed one, use it exclusively.
