Best flat wound strings on the market

Just noticed I purchased these 2 years ago for an Epiphone Broadway and thought I'd write a review. After years with D'Addario Chromes, I got fed up with their serious drop in quality. I read recommendations on forums and came across these. I've never put a set on strings on a guitar and been speechless before or since. My Broadway is like a different instrument. I winced at the price a bit, but 2 years of regular play and they feel as fresh as when I first put them on (I'm a quiet bedroom player, so I can't speak to gigging longevity unfortunately.) If you're looking for an incredible flatwound set for an archtop, I think the search ends here.

Ordered these off Reverb from CME but leaving a review here for anyone in my situation. I've been using D'addario Chromes 11-.50 for 2+ years but thought I would try these and see if they were worth the extra money. After putting them on and playing for one night I would have to say I'm not sure they are in my case. After getting used to the smoothness of the Chromes these almost feel like half rounds in comparison. Also, not sure if it's because the individual string envelopes aren't sealed like the Chromes but after playing for about an hour my fretting fingertips were noticeably dirty, even after washing my hands and fretboard before I put them on. Tonewise I didn't notice a major difference on my guitar, a G&L Lecacy with DiMarzio SdIIs and SDS-1. I included a picture, the second string up is the 6 month old (15-20 hrs playing/week) Chrome I took off compared to the rest which are the brand new Pyramids. I'll update if my opinion changes as they get broken in but as of now I think I will be back to the Chromes which are 1/2 the price of these for my next set.

Sounds great on my Rickenbacker 325c64!

I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish they were cheaper. My background: I've been playing for 10 years. I'm a songwriter/rhythm guitarist and play everything from indie to blues, alternative, hard rock, garage rock, punk and some post rock. I've never liked thin strings, and my playing style incorporates a lot of slides and whatnot. I put these on my Fender Jaguar (.12s feel amazing on short-scale guitars like the Jaguar) and they've become my favorite strings! They do feel and sound different than roundwound strings, but as far as I'm concerned, they're better. They're great for chords and soloing too. These strings are not for everyone, and I was reluctant of purchasing them because flatwounds are used for jazz for the most part. Glad I went with my gut and bought them, they feel more natural than any other set of strings I've tried, and I used to be an Ernie Ball Regular Slinkes kind of guy. Getting used to flatwounds does take some time, don't let that hold you back from buying these.

What a difference these strings made on my Rickenbacker 325c64.

If you've never used flat rounds then you should. No more scratchy, scratchy while whipping and zipping between power chords.
