On a black background they just pop. The thread is already separated held in a sturdy cardboard thing. This is a big selling point for me. Any cross stitcher knows inn most kits sorting thread especially with similar graduations in the same color can almost make you stuff in a drawer or send it back. At least with me it does. The pattern is and color codes are clear and easy to follow. The only thing I didn't like about this kit was the material. Seems like good material but so stiff it takes several tries to get it to stay in the hoop.
